Just wanted to see who in here competes in IDPA matches?
Im getting ready to start and looking to see what gear people use.
I plan on using my XD .40 tactical.
I'm assuming you'll be in SSP (stock production pistol). What you'll need is your pistol (duh), ammo (double duh), a holster,a 2 hole mag carrier, 3 mags if you have them, and some kind of concealment garment (most use a photo/fishing type vest). I'd suggest not going out and buying all this stuff. Go to your first match with what you already own, the people there will help you decide what and when you need stuff (plus you get to see if IDPA is for you before buying a bunch of stuff). Good luck and have fun.![]()

I tried IDPA a couple of times. As a long service police officer, lots of their stages ands rules are counter to my training and real world experience. I didn't like the gamers, either. So I quit before I picked up any bad habits. Or punched some fanboi in the snooter. Lots of people have a ton of fun with IDPA, IPSC is even more of a ballet. Those guys can shoot fast, and hit what they shoot at, all right, but let something shoot back at them, like a full auto simunition machine.
