Anyone know a source for new grips for a Colt Lawman snub?

A forum friend traded me one of these over the weekend. For those not familiar, this is the "other" J frame, the Colt J frame. It's a beefy .357 snub that's somewhat like an oversize Colt Detective Special.

The downside is that the Lawman snub apparently used a grip size that is unique to that model. A model that hasn't been made in quite some time.

My example has Badger boot grips on it - apparently they made a small batch at some point. Nicely made and attractive grips, but I don't want boot grips on this revolver.

Anyone know if Pachs were ever made for these? If so what size? Does anyone else make stocks for these still?

I've seen rediculously large Pachs on them before. So they do make them. I had a craving for a New Service belly gun but figured a short Lawman would be a good substitute for a hefty powerful snup nose. then I found my New Service you were so kind to post for me a while back. Does your gun have the enclosed extractor? I like them both. And they have a rim recessing the chambers. Something my Python doesn't even have. You have a really cool but under appreciated gun there, Gator.

I have to look in the stock of the old gunstore where I work for. Maybe I do have a Jay Scott grip for you. Thursday I do know more.

Thanks for the link, and I'll drop them an email. It looks like they have the standard MKIII Lawman grip. The snub had different grip profile, or so I'm told. I'm not sure that a standard grip will work entirely correctly. The snubs had round butts, but the other versions had square butts. Most of the Colt J frame grips extant seem to be for the square butt guns. I *think* that square butt Pachs might be made to fit now that Wyatt jogged my memory, but not entirely correctly.

Thuer, if your shop has an old Jay Scott meant for the Lawman snub, I'd be quite interested.

Wyatt - Mine does have the shrouded ejector. One of these days I hope to get a cut down New Service myself.

Pachs were made for the Lawman Mark III 2 inch with the round butt. I bought some from Numrich maybe a month ago. They were the presentation grips. I'll try and find the link and pass it along. I seem to recall there might have been some wooden grips (again round butt) for sale. They fit the Lawman very well. Mine has the shrouded ejector too.

Thuer, if you turn up an interesting set of period Jay Scott grips for a round butt, I would still be interested depending on the type.

Gator I am thursday at the shop and will look at the grips. I do have a lot of Jay Scott grips for several Colt revolvers. I shall make a list.
