Wondering if anyone has encountered or loaded 45ACP brass with either small "non-toxic" pistol primers? Can you use regular small pistol primers? These new 45ACP brass has a small pistol primer pocket. I have yet to see non-toxic primers for sale. The wave of the future?

You'll get the same reply from everyone who has encountered them..... THROW THEM AWAY.

I had been putting small pistol primers in the few I would run across...Until I got my progressive press, first one I ran into, set the large primer right off..

NOW, I fold em over with pliers and throw em away.

Same here...I just toss them away as soon as I run across one. They're a real pain in the ass when you run across one while in the middle of progressive reloading (though I've never had one blow, you can feel that something is wrong immediately when trying to seat a primer). I wish they wouldn't make those oddball things!

I agree, they are a pain in the rear...just have to take extra time to sort!

I am very careful to cull them from the herd...but I don't pinch 'em or pitch 'em.

Several guys have mentioned they have begun reloading with them (there's not the thing wrong with the brass so long as you don't mix the NT with the traditional .45 ACP brass) so I save up a bag or two and when it's worth my time to package them up I offer them here as a give-a-way. With things as tight as they are...it helps out a fellow reloader. Someone will always jump in and ask for them.

Yes, I suspected without attention to primer pocket, it makes for a dicey progressive session! But the nt brass meets the same specs as the large primer stuff, right?

I sort them out and when I have a decent quantity I set up my Dillon 550B with the small primer assembly and load them up. Use them on a "Lost Brass" match and don't think about it anymore. I've loaded about 5000 of them with no problems.

This is what I do with them, now a days there's not many cases that I'll throw away.

I also keep what I find and use them in the 550. I have used them at lost brass matches and also in my 625s because it is not hard to keep them sorted when they are clipped.

I guess I'm lucky (re: NT brass)...most of my stash was gathered several years ago before NT was available.

I know I'm going to sound like a range brass pack-rat...but I've got a couple 5 gallon buckets full to the brim with clean .45 ACP brass...It's hard to know when to stop

The way I reload (nice easy-going range loads), I expect when I kick the bucket, my wife will call up my range buddies and offer up many pounds of clean brass that I'll have not touched since stored.

I'm convinced it's an illness...with all I've got stashed I've started snagging brass again...I'm watching for NT like a hawk these days but do not find much...maybe 1-2%.

Does anyone have a source for NT 45acp brass? I would like to find 300 - 400 cases, but can't find any for sale.
