Not exactly my cup of tea, but Centerfire Systems has these for what seems like a good price, like $250, which seems like about half or more off the MSRP.

Like I said, a little out of my area, just thought I’d mention it. I have no connection CS, other than having bought a revolver from them a few years ago, which was a pretty good deal.

Best Regards, Les

I just went and took a look. The Tac 14 with detachable magazine is 249 dollars. The Tac 14 with a tube is $344.

It seems like the box magazine fed variants of these *ahem* "PGO Firearms" just don't sell very well.

I can't say I'm surprised though, I chose a standard tube magazine fed Mossberg 590 Shockwave over the box magazine fed 590M Shockwave because the size of the magazines kind of seemed to defeat the purpose of owning such a compact, short barrel "firearm" and the cost of spare magazines was so prohibitively expensive that the benefit of being able to reload the Shockwave faster with them just didn't seem like enough to justify paying 1/4-1/3 the price of the firearm itself to do so.

Hopefully the magazines are on sale too.

PSA had the full size DM version for $249 after the current rebate. I think the fact that they are only making a 6 round version and Mossy's have higher cap mags is making people go the Mossberg route.

Actually, Remington does make one Tac-14 with equal capacity to the 590 Shockwave, it's the one with hardwood furniture that looks like the old Wilson Combat 870 Witness Security, which includes a +1 magazine extension.

Truthfully, the Mossberg 590 Shockwave has a lot of advantages over the Tac-14 from the more accessible controls which allows the shooter to maintain their grip to the drilled and tapped receiver. So it isn't just that the 590 Shockwave holds an extra round over the standard Tac-14.

Roger that sir. I was referring to the DM models. The Mossberg has multiple different magazines with differing capacities, 5, 10,15 &20 rounds. The Remington only has the 3 and 6 round magazines available. I think that is where Remington is falling short on the DM models.
On a side note, I believe you can also get a 1 round mag extension for the 870 tac 14, but it is like $50, so not worth it in my eyes. At that point, I would definitely opt for the Mossberg.

Thanks Les, that does sound like a decent price. I've always been an 870 guy but have the shockwave and it scratches that itch.

I was thinking about a 20ga Shockwave for something the wife could handle, then I walked into a LGS and up on the wall was a .410 shockwave that I didn't even know existed! Would be perfect for her, she only weighs 85lbs, max.

I do have an older police trade in, Rem 870 Wingmaster, metal folding stock, 20" bbl. That is entirely too much for either of us, both in weight and recoil. Nearly unfired though, must have been a Lt.'s personal shotgun.

FWIW, I picked up a Tac 14 with tube magazine, just because it’s illegal in CA. Scheels had $379 on it, but I got it for $289 via an online price match. I went with the Remington over Mossberg simply because of a personal preference for the former.
