Anyone put a Muzzle Break on your M&P10?

Any updates? Would like to add a break to my 811311.

I think a lot of people miss the break/brake difference. When I'm tired I take a break, when I want to slow my car (or reduce rifle recoil) I use the brakes.

What they thought after a day at the range with their newly installed muzzle brake. Which one(s) they preferred or which one(s) they would like to try. I have been looking at a couple of them on e bay and haven't made up my mine on which one I may or may not purchase.

I'm curious how people can purchase several brakes just to compare? And, what might work for one person, doesn't have the same feel for the next.
Plus, the whole benefit is going to be dramatically reduced because there's hardly any recoil anyway with .22LR.

I installed this yesterday and took it out for a test drive. It is a PWS FSC30, a take-off from a FN SCAR 17S.

Very effective! I didn't think recoil was bad with my M&P is stock form but this made a very noticeable difference.

Finally put the JP Enterprises brake on and went to the range. Night and day difference shooting the gun (M&P10). Don't have experience with any other brakes, so can't give a comparison, but shooting my M&P10 without and with..wow.
Is it louder for people behind and to the side..YES!.
Is there a concussive blast felt by people behind and to the side..YES
Does it tame recoil..hell YES! (shooting buddy said his 5.56 felt like it had more recoil)
Shooting the gun prior when strapped into a rest..would almost slide the whole contraption off the bench..now barely moves the thing.

Highly recommend adding a brake, makes the gun way more enjoyable and also allows much faster followup shots

Once some funds get replenished I am interested in trying a different one just to see if I can get same level of recoil reduction with reduced noise and concussion ( ..as so many advertise), but am I happy with what I got..YES!
 
Not sure that it is actually the best muzzle brake on the market but my Shark muzzle break could come in handy at the right, or actually the wrong time.

I had my smith put a "Manticore Arms Nightbrake muzzle compensator" on my Compliant model. It isn't as deafening as most of them out there, and yet it really does it's job on my M&P10. I also had him cut me a "thread protector" so that I can unscrew the break and replace it with the "protector" if/when it is a problem on the range. I started out putting one on my son's 300 Win Mag. to reduce the recoil for him. However, the thing I found out is: The thing I like most about a good muzzle break isn't the recoil reduction or muzzle control issue. Yea, those are great benefits, BUT, It's even better how the animals react to a shot! I've been using them on my elk rifles for years, and you wouldn't believe how the rest of the herd just runs around in circles trying to figure out what just happened. If they are over about 150yrds away, they just hear a big noise, but nobody can figure out what it was, or which direction & where it came from. Heck at least 30% of the time, they run around in a circle for a couple of minutes then go back to feeding. It's literally unreal! Using one on my 5.56, If I'm lucky enough to get a shot off before they see me, I've even had coyotes that can't figure which way to run.

I'm running a JP Recoil Comp which virtually eliminated kick. Great for bench shooting, but don't think it would be too practical for offhand.

Had my eye on a Tacticool muzzle brake, but I got a deal ($60.00) on a PRI Quiet Control Brake that I couldn't pass up. Precision Reflex - Product Detail - 308 MSTN Quiet Control Brake SS Black - $83.00 Threw it on the bench, and a few days later my son had spun the S&W Brake/Flash Hider off and indexed the PRI Brake. Have not had a chance to shoot it yet though, probably this weekend.
Planning on buying another M&P10 so that my son and I both have one. The next one will get a Tacticool brake for sure. Muzzle Brakes - Tactical .22 Parts and Accessories To me it looks much better, and I have heard nothing but good reports on its effectiveness..
 
+1 for the SureFire - it gets the job done, and acts as the mount for SureFire's suppressor if you plan to add one in the future (and I do). Of course, you have to live in a state where such things are legal.

I use the Surefire SOCOM 7.62. When I installed this brake, I observed on the first few shots that my rifle shot about 8 MOA higher (actual 8" at 100yds) than the scope zero for the original flash hider ... not sure if this is an indicator of anything as I should have measured for muzzle velocity change between the brake and the original flash hider. Also, in playing around with a 30 second timer, I was able to unload a 20 round pmag into a 3" target group at 100 yards from a bipod prone firing position using the Surefire muzzle brake on the rifle (all 20 rounds in the group ... no strays). This wasn't happening with the original flash hider because the rifle kept bouncing high and to the right on the bipod, and took an extra couple seconds to set it back on target each shot.
