I'm just going to say that in the personal interest of my blood pressure I will not be clicking on that link. I will just take note that once again the world is not as safe as we may think.

Actually if you read the article carefully, it says Mr Reddy feels they did this under the Patriot Act.

The authorities had all they needed from the friend of Mr Reddy without the Patriot Act.
1. Statements saying Mr Reddy was making threats.
2. Saying Mr Ready owned a "Street Sweeper."
3. Finding Mr Reddy was having his home foreclosed upon and was under mental stress.

Many years ago I was assigned a case where a friend of an attorney made statements about the man being investigated by the US Attorney's Office. It was found to be a flase statement but not before the attorney committed suicide after his practice went downhill due to rumors. People say things that have unintended results. In the Reddy case, his friend was running off at the mouth and it came back to bite Mr Reddy.

He may have made statements in anger or under duress but how many of us say things that we really do not mean in the heat of the moment?

It doesn't matter what side of the aisle you are on, robbing anyone of due process is simply wrong.
