Anyone shooting more air guns?

All my local ranges are getting very crowded, and I find I get less patient. A 45 minute wait to get on a lane can get tedious.

My kids and I have been plinking more in the back yard with pellet guns lately. Our equipment is not high tech. A Daisy 717 pistol that a friend found in the trunk of a car he hand bought and gave the gun to me about 25 years ago. A Benjamin Blue Streak rifle and one of those cheap Chinese training air rifles.

Actually that Chicom rifle should not be under rated. I bought this around 1995 for $20 and it still is going fine. The new ones do not seem as well made as the old one though. I think in the early 90's the Chinese were actually using these things for military training, now they just make them as cheap as possible to sell to Americans.

Have several I've been thinking about digging out of the archives and playing with. One is the Sheridan Blue Streak. Very powerful and accurate in 5mm.

I went online a few weeks ago and tracked down some 5mm pellets for my old Sheridan. My dad has been using it regularly since he waged war against the squirrels on his bird feeders.

Heck yeah! I have a Gamo air rifle w-scope/laser dot I picked up from Academy. It's the single shot/break open bbl type, with the correct pellets,that dude launches em at around 1000 fps! Regarding your comment about the packed ranges, I agree...I just dont post about it or all of this panic ammo/gun buying anymore because I get my head totally bitten off by other forum members. It's like, admit it already, this has officially become ridiculous. I'm not a left winger, I didn't vote for you know who, and I'm not new to shooting. But yes, I am sick of all this crap, I can't even find .22 ammo. I meen even friken cleaning supplies are flying off the shelf...ok, yeah im sure he's going to ban Hoppes #9..ok, I'm done.

I participate in International Air Pistol. There are shoulder to shoulder match's to go to, but I have to drive 150+ miles. Postal match's are fun, and you are competing against all levels of competition. I recently sold my Crossman Skannaker, which I haven't been using, (but was an outstandingly accurate CO2 pistol), and am using the Russian made IZH46M, by Biakol. Single stroke pneumatic and Olympic accuracy. Not too expensive, and I believe are being imported again. Were previously imported by EAA, not sure who imports them now.

We are fortunate, in that we live in a rural area and I can shoot most anything on our property.

However, my air rifle gets shot more than any other firearm I own. Inexpensive and accurate entertainment / pest control.

I love shooting air guns but I've kind of backed away lately. My rifle is really accurate but it weighs as much as a Garand. I hate packing it around lately. It ain't got a sling on it for nuthin'.

Yes, I also shoot airguns - both rifle and pistol, and have several of each. I shoot 10 meters in the basement for practice, and shoot chipmunks and starlings in the back yard. Airguns can be extremely accurate(and expensive).

No, but I was surprised when I went to by 20 caliber pellets last week and discovered they cost more than PRIMERS!!! What's up with that? A little piece of lead cost almost $40 a thousand!?! I need to look online because here pellets cost as much as 22's, but unlike 22LR I can still find the pellets.

I have several airguns. I recently bought an old Beeman/Webley C1 carbine. It was a pawn shop find. I added a red dot scope and have been havign a lot of fun with it in my backyard. It was built sometime in the 80s and can still shoot a Crossman Premier pellet through a pine 1x4.

Hee...hee. I just bought 15,000 rounds of JSB Exact. .177 pellets. Got a deal. $7.50 for a tin of 500, shipped free.

BTW, the deal is over so the rest of you'se can just take a hike.

I hear that! My brother and I have over 100 acres here in PA

We're in the process of lengthening our rifle range.. up to about 250 yards.

Not yet. If ammo prices are not back down to some sort of reasonable price a year from now, I very well may take up shooting more air rifles. I learned how to shoot by shooting air rifles as a kid. Anyone know if there is a run on BBs and pellets?

Gamo 440 hunter.177 caliber guy here.Plinking and hunting doves with it.I put a variable BSA air rifle scope on it and the combo works like a dream.

I have been shooting NRA International Air Pistol for decades. I use a Morini 162EI. I bought a used Feinwerkbau 601 air rifle this past summer and shot it in 10 meter International Air Rifle matches this season.

It is a lot of fun and real hard. My 86 year old father still shoots air pistol and runs the indoor matches at our club from October through April every season.

I shoot this one from time to time.
I believe it is from the 50s, Old Crosman.
2 pumps is all that's needed for 30'

Also good in the fall when the deer mice want some warmth....
