It’s not a trick. I bought this way and cylinder and barrel are silver. Not painted but maybe stainless?

AI Overview

A "pinto revolver" refers to a Smith & Wesson revolver, typically a J-, K-, or N-frame, that has a two-tone finish, with parts like the barrel and cylinder in nickel and the frame in blue. This combination of finishes resembles the contrasting colors of a pinto horse, hence the name. These were often made using leftover parts from different production runs.

To my eyes it almost looks like the barrel and cylinder are "in the white", bare carbon steel. Look at the side of the front sight, appears that it was sanded but not quite deep enough to remove the dent and some tiny pits. Could just be the lighting but it doesn't quite look like stainless steel.

It looks to me like a Model 10 frame with the cylinder and barrel from a Model 64. They are identical guns except one is blued steel and the other is stainless.

I have both in 2" barrel and have been thinking of combining them to make two pinto snubbies.

My guess is that someone removed the finish intending to refinish it, but never finished the job. I would at the very least put some cold blue on these parts.

So guys I definitely want to keep it I still think it’s kool. Is it worth having whole gun refinished ? One other issue , when I push cylinder release it is hard to open seems it’s catching or dragging on something when opening
