Lots of products on the market with big claims of performance. Do yourself a favor and look at a good industrial supply store or website, you'll probably find the same products without the logos and trade names at a fraction of the cost.
Hearing protection, eye protection, these are everyday issues in business and industry. Employers purchase these things by the rail-car load for pennies on the dollar compared to what shooters pay for brand-named stuff from "reputable sources".
I buy OSHA-approved eye protection by the dozen for less than $2 per, always carry a few with me to the range and give them away to anyone who needs a set. Ear plugs (OSHA-approved) can be bought by the dozen, shipped to your door for less than a single set at the sporting goods store or on-line market.
Shooting supply companies didn't invent any of this stuff, they just went to the manufacturers and had the industrial products made with a logo applied for big-name recognition.
