Hello everyone with an interest in .356 TSW.
I would love to see this round come alive again.

You are more than welcome to contact me if you are interested in having a 9 m.m. barrel bored to accept the .356 TSW round.
The recoil spring will have to be replaced with a heavier one to absorb the increased energy.
The OAL length of a .356 TSW round is the same as the 9 m.m.
All the standard original 9 m.m. magazines are still used.
Machining of the bore would be done on CNC Turning Centers (Lathes) using Tungsten Carbide boring bars (Tools).
The original taper in the bore will be gauged before reboring and will be followed with the exact taper, only the depth will be pushed deeper.
As opposed to using a 9 m.m. chamber reamer which pushes the 9 m.m. bore deeper and actually makes the chamber at the breech face get larger,
because the 9 m.m. cartridge is a tapered cartridge.

Anybody that might be curious can follow my data in this thread that started in April of 2009 with the thoughts of converting a 6906 into this caliber;

http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-...camp-9-356-tsw-spoke-w-peter-pi-corbon-6.html

Life got in the way at times and had to stop thinking about it.
I received two barrels from forum members.

The 6906 that was already in .356 TSW and originally came out of the Performance Center.
The 5906 barrel came from a forum member.
But since then I have also converted a Walther P99-9 m.m. and a Marlin Camp-9 Carbine.
I also have a Performance Center 3566 compact, PC-3566 Limited and a PC-940 Centennial, all of which I have inspected and gauged to come up with
an exact chamber profile and depth including the forcing cone taper into the riffling which is required to use the Federal .356 TSW 147 grain FMJ match ammo.

The link will start you at page six with my latest conversion.
If this is of any interest to you, go to page one and start reading, there is allot of info on all the things that went into these.
I wanted to make sure this was a feasible thing to do before I offered it out there to forum members.

On a side note, my background is Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering / CNC Methods Engineering that started upon graduation from College some 30 plus years ago.

Regards,
BM1

I'm looking at a 908 and 4" PC5906 - I'd guess your PC pistols have the Briley bushings and standard PC fitting --- and run this conversion just fine??? please say yes.. ;)

And maybe my 5" Wesman 5906 from that project a while back, but I'm not sure about any spare barrels being available...

Any 9 m.m. can be converted.
Getting a proper recoil spring to work may require a little more work.
I had to make a new recoil rod for the Walther P99-9 m.m., it used a captured spring.
The spring came from an extra SW99-45 recoil assembly that I had.
My Performance Center guns came in .356 TSW from the factory.
