I guess that's what they are called, maybe spider bars. What I'm talking about are those handle bars on motorcycles that are so high they almost hit the power lines. It seems like it would be extremlly difficult to control a big bike if trouble were to come upon ya. It also looks dumb and it could result in a nasty bee sting in the old hairy arm pit.

Guess some just cannot not get past Easy Rider.

While never having ridden a scoot with ape hangers, I have to assume your analysis is correct in that they can't be the hot tip for evasive manuvers.

In a few states handlebars that require you to have your hands above shoulder height are illegal. Plus I think they look bad, but that is just my opinion.

Sir, my little brother has apes on his scoot, but he's also 6-foot-3. Works for him. Me, I'm more of a drag bars kinda guy.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

My neighbor has them on his mower. Maybe I'll try to get a pic this summer.
Looks really...uhm...well.....STUPID! (for a lack of better words)

I think ape hangers not only look bad, but they are unsafe. You can not have your best control with your hands in such an un natural position.

I always question the judgment of someone who would choose to have his bike like that?

Never had them on a motorcycle. I thought they were neat on my Schwinn Stingray. They were undoubtedly unsafe. As was the stick shift in front of the seat on the bar.

Do not harsh my Sting-Ray!
Please don't tell me you've been deputized Fun Sherrif by Ralph Nader. My Schwinn has harmed less people than Ted Kennedy!!!

ape hangers make as much sense as the low riders with the car seats in the low back position and trying to drive, you can see they are hanging on the steering wheel, by the way why do I have to have a seat belt on or get a ticket, when bike riders do not have to have a seat belt or wear a helmet,,

Tell me, what's with the "low rider" seating. What in the heck are the sitting on...the floor?

That's the most insane thing I've ever seen.

I swear I've seen guys going down the road that could not see over the hood, let alone see out the side window!

Because we got of our dusty butts and lobbied against the mandatory helmet laws. And before anyone starts ranting about how stupid it is not to wear a helmet, yes..I totally agree and wear a helmet, but I do not like the state telling me I have to wear a helmet, can't eat trans fats, or can't cut the tag off the damn mattress....

buckeye i agree..i do not like the state telling me i need to where the belt,,,its my life let me live it or not,,seat belt laws are nothing but a money grab

They are comfortable if not TOO high.

I rode a sporty once that they were TOO high. Went into a turn at 70, darn near soiled my pants. Thing got wobbly like nothin I ever rode before.

GRIND those rotator cuffs baby. Makes me want to pass out business cards when I see people using them.

That being said...they do look good.
