I bought my 9mm Shield 4 or 5 months ago and have ran about 1000 rounds through it. I love this pistol, but wasnt happy with the trigger. I was hesitant to go buy the AEK kit from Apex, I couldnt see spending almost half the cost of the pistol on the trigger. (I got my pistol for just over $300 and the AEK kit is $160)

I did the sear mod you can find on youtube. I wasnt really happy with this, it left a lot of pre travel and overtravel and was gritty at best. So I got the AEK kit. They kept saying they use the 45 sear, because it reduced total trigger travel. I was dubious of this claim, but ordered it on the phone, and got it two days later. (Thank you APEX for the free fast shipping they give to retired MIL)

I found time to install it yesterday, then went out and shot 100 rounds to see how it works out.

WOW! Smooth trigger pull, lots less pre-travel, lots less over travel, the reset is short and sure. Light trigger pull. In short this trigger does everything they say it does.

The apex videos show how to install this yourself. One note on the install, You may want to LIGHTLY run a triangle file into the rear sight dove tail prior to re-install. I would also take a piece of 600 grit sandpaper and clean the dovetails on the rear sight itself before re-install. As it is, the rear sight is a bear to take out and put back in and set in place.

I highly recommend you get this installed into your Shield. You will wonder why you waited.

I personally love how my guns feel after installing Apex parts in them. They are not cheap, but oh what a difference they make.

I'll 2nd that. All my M&P pistols have these kits installed. I can not stand the factory triggers on these pistols and would not have an M&P without the Apex kit installed...

I did the Duty/Carry kit and got my trigger from 8lb trigger pull down to 5lb 5oz. I debated about installing the aluminum trigger but figured might as well go all the way with the mods!! So I put in the aluminum trigger and like the OP it made a very big difference and my trigger pull is now 4lb 4oz. It's consistent from shot to shot. My 1911 carry guns all have 4lb triggers and that's the way I like them.

Hello. I just ordered a shield 9mm. I have the full size M&P and have the DCAEK installed without changing the trigger spring, and I love it.

I want to also order a kit for the shield, but am unclear of what you said in your original post. Did you order the whole kit for the shield or just the trigger and a .45 sear separately? I was looking at just getting the shield carry kit, but was reading good things about the enhanced trigger.

I ordered the Apex Duty/Carry kit and it comes with a new sear. I bought the Apex trigger a few weeks later. It's cheaper to buy the kit with the trigger for $159.00 and it's well worth the money!!

Update.

I have put about 500 more rounds through this pistol. I absolutely love it.

I measured the trigger pull weight today. It measured about 4.5 lbs.

I may have to buy a M&P 9mm just to put a trigger kit in it as well....
