I want to put a DCAEK Kit on my M&P 9c and also a Apex AEK trigger but I have no idea which AEK trigger to get as there so many different ones. Can someone be of assistance?

Thanks:)

I put the polymer trigger in my M&P 40 FS, along with the DCAEK, I couldn't be happier with the accuracy and performance. The reset is farther back, the trigger pull nice and smooth and the trigger pull at 5 pounds. It's worth looking into. The polymer trigger has rounded edged and the aluminum one is straight by the way.

I put the poly trigger in my 45 and love it! I like it more than the flat aluminum trigger.

I just installed a poly AEK in my 40c a few days ago. I'm impressed enough that I just ordered one for my 9FS, and I'm hoping a poly verision of the Shield trigger is released.

I originally installed the DCAEK in both a 40FS and 40c and was very happy with the result. DCAEK installation was completely drop-in with no adjustments needed.

When the polymer AEK trigger was released, I swapped both pistols to it and am now even happier. Installing the AEK trigger did require opening the trigger bar loop a little bit.

I definitely like the Glock-style trigger safety (a lever in the center) as opposed to the S&W hinged trigger. The hinged trigger always felt spongy.

Now thinking about changing the 40FS to the FSS and trigger kit to have it better match the feel of my 1911. Unfortunately this requires the entire FSS & trigger kit and not just the sear.

For those that did the AEK trigger and the DCAEK, which sear spring did you guys use? The one that comes with the trigger or the one that comes with the DCAEK, or are they the same?

Would love to get an Apex poly trigger for my Shield.....hate that hinged trigger..... Received an email this morning from Casey at Apex which advised they will probably release one in about 6 months.

Apex says the AEK sear spring makes for a slightly heavier pull than the DCAEK because the AEK trigger allows for better leverage. I had the tried both springs and really couldn't tell a discernable difference in pull weight between the two. I don't have a scale though. However, I felt the AEK sear spring provided a crisper break

I'm glad to hear that apex is planning on releasing a poly trigger for the shield. I really want to replace the stock one but was unsure about getting the aluminum one for the shield.

I should add that I love the DCAEK combined with AEK. Fairly short pre travel, very very minimal over travel, and quick reset.

I placed an order for the DCAEK and poly AEK trigger, as well as some night sights for my 9c. I'll be glad to get rid of the MA compliment trigger, sometimes it fells like I have to pull so hard I might snap the trigger. Hopefully it won't be so great I have to order a kit for my FS 9 with the standard trigger, but baised on other feedback, I think I'll have to once I shoot the 9c with the new parts.

My 40FS and 40c both have DCAEKs and polymer AEK triggers installed. Having just bought a Lyman digital trigger guage, I measured various combinations of springs and found the following:

Apex sear spring, Apex trigger spring: 6 lb 0 oz
Apex sear spring, factory trigger spring: 4 lb 15 oz
factory sear spring, factory trigger spring: 3 lb 10 oz
factory sear spring, Apex trigger spring: 4 lb 4 oz

Similar results were found for the 40FS and 40c, as expected. Apex states that if their springs are used, the expected pull weight is 5.5-6 lbs, so I'm at the top of that range.

Bottom line - the factory trigger spring is about 1 lb lighter than the Apex duty/carry trigger spring and the factory sear spring is about 1 - 1.5 lb lighter than the Apex duty/carry sear spring.

With the polymer AEK trigger, I didn't have any problems with the trigger safety catching on the frame regardless of spring configuration. Not sure it that would be case with the factory trigger.

I settled on the Apex sear spring and factory trigger spring for a nice ~5 lb pull that smooth like butter.

I used the apex sear spring and factory trigger spring also. I love the results.

Has anyone just done the poly trigger without the DCAEK? what were your results?

I used the AEK poly with FSS in my 40c, and the AEK aluminum with my DCAEK Shield kit. Not sure the aluminum is worth the extra bucks, but all I could find for my Shield 40. Both are fantastic improvements. Only trouble I had was with my 40c. Lots of minute trigger bar adjustments to make before I could get reliable striker release, but once achieved...Wow! What a difference!

I didn't, but I tried the DCAEK with the stock trigger, then with aluminum...big difference. Smoother, quite a bit less takeup and overtravel. I think that the trigger itself would make a big difference.

I have the FSS kit with the poly & aluminum trigger, out of the two I prefer the aluminum. I'm going to buy the AEK trigger for one of my other M&Ps setup with the USB & Sear only.
