I just installed the Apex Forward Set Sear in my M&P 45. Like all products from Apex, this one is quality made and the parts fit as advertised.

I had previously installed the Apex Hard Sear, but still didn't like the trigger feel. Too much take up and over travel. Unfortunately, the Hard Sear doesn't work with the Froward Set Sear kit and must be replaced. Sorry, no shortcuts or money savings. The kit can only be purchased as a whole because it all works together.

Installation is easy enough, but not for the feint of heart. If you have not removed the trigger block before or taken the trigger out, maybe this should be left for a professional.

There is a video by Randy from Apex on how to install this kit, but it's a little lacking. There are a few steps that get over looked in the video. For example; the take down lever has to come out before the trigger block comes out. Also, they skipped how to use the slave trigger slave pin. It's easy enough if you're mechanically inclined, but still would have been nice to have an example.

This is my biggest beef. The kit comes with absolutely no instructions. The video on youtube is all you have to go on.

After installation the trigger is much improved. Very little take up and almost no over-travel. The trigger does still feel somewhat "spongy", but still better than stock. This is the nature of a striker fired gun.

All in all, I'm happy with the kit. I will post again once I can get to the range with it.

If the hard sear for the 45 works on the 40; I'll help mitigate you monetary loss and buy it from ya.... Just sayin....

Sorry BIGMAC116, the sear is different for the .40S&W. I will still gladly send it down the road to someone who needs it though. For a small fee of course. ;)

Maybe I'll list it in the classified section. I still want to test the Forward Set Sear on the range first.

I always check YouTube for any install videos. There always seems to be several videos showing what I need to see. Many of those videos are much better detailed than those from Apex. I find working on the M&P's very easy, as compared to other brands of guns. Very few parts and easy to take apart and put back together. Unless you have no mechanical ability, I would suggest all to check out the videos and work on their guns themselves. You learn a lot about the inner workings of a gun, and save some cash, as well. Example would be a YouTube search for "M&P Apex install".

Well, I finally got to the range. Installation issues not withstanding, this is a good upgrade.

The hard anodized trigger is much nicer than the original.

The trigger press is not perfect though. The best way to describe it is spongy. The pull weight is fine and the take up is much less than stock. The over travel is completely gone. Well, it might have a tiny bit, but it's less than 1/32" on my gun.

Overall I'm quite happy with it. Now if I could only get rid of that flinch...
