breaking down a S&W revolver

Grab a beer, glass of wine, play the video. Stop and start as often as needed.
I've learned to strip and re assemble any Smith revolver in minutes, as well as polishing pertinent areas, changing springs, etc. Simple, yet very rewarding when you pull that trigger of a gun you've worked on!

This is a very good book, highly recommend it.
I've always found it useful to take pictures at each stage of disassembly. It helps when putting it back together.
Is the Apex hammer a "drop in" component? Looking forward to your review of the hammer swap.

Didn’t follow StrawHat’s link... is it for Jerry Kuhnhausen’s book? If not, I would strongly recommend.
BTW, my homage Model 16-3 build (on a 14-3 donor) has an unusually heavy trigger, especially in DA. At the minimum I plan to clean hammer/triggered/sear surfaces and add a spring kit. It gets factory target ammo and reloads with relatively soft Winchester SPPs, so I’m not as concerned about FTFs as I might otherwise be. The JK book will be on my bench.

Sorry that it has taken so long to get back with y'all on this. The last few years have been a blur and quite frankly, I forgot.
I am really liking the 66 even though it is not made in the old school fashion. Although, I think I will be looking for a 19 soon.
Any way, here is what I did to it. The rear sight was the toughest part, I had to file down some metal on the site. What a pain in the rear end.
The first spring I used was the reduced power spring, that was a mistake and I went with the standard power spring.

I was reading about the rear sight. POR?
I usually read that as Priced Out of Reach! How much was it, if you are inclined to share.
I agree with the standard power mainspring. You want the primers to go bang. Smooth out the action and leave the reduced power springs for the range games.
Would like to see some photos of the completed revolver, when you get the time.
