Apex Spring Kit... with factory striker spring

I've read some stories that the Apex Spring Kit causes light primer strikes (I practice with steel ammo - tula/wolf). My idea is to keep the factory striker springs. Anyone tried doing this? How is the trigger pull? Or should I just keep everything factory?
My last option is to keep everything factory and install the Apex Trigger which reduces travel.
This is my HD and will be my edc if I pass my interview for a CCW (California).

I was in the same boat. My SD is my HD weapon and didn't want to sacrifice reliability for performance. I've also heard about the light primer strikes so I opted for just the apex trigger. It does feel like a different pistol with the apex trigger and travel is reduced. Combine that with 1000 rounds downrange to break in the springs and let the parts self polish and it feels great.

Also keep in mind that some of us had to file the apex trigger to get proper performance because it is not perfectly designed for the SD. Search stevewonderful's post on the apex kit for more info.

But..... If you want a good trigger out the box with a good reset trade for an m&p. The apex trigger will not fix the horrible reset on the SD, apex would need to design a new trigger bar and sear for an m&p like feel.

I did exactly what u said and skipped the striker spring. It was better but not exactly what I was hoping for. (just dry firing) the next day I decided to install all springs with the kit and I could not be happier. I installed mine less then a month ago on my 40 and love it. No failures what so ever. No light strikes either. My accuracy is 10 times better.(600 rounds through it) This was my first striker fired pistol. I've shot my 40 and my buddys glock 22 and xd compact 40 this past weekend all together. I think the sd40ve wins easily now!!! The xd trigger is slightly smoother but I can't beat how this gun feels in my hand!!!

SD40VE Upgrades

I have since ran only about a box of ammo thru it. No problems with light strikes as of yet. I also ordered and installed the 22lb. recoil spring assy from Galloway Precision.
Got it here because the shipping is less.

I put both the Apex trigger and striker spring kit in and I had 2 or 3 FTF's (fail to fire) out of 50 rounds on my first range trip after the modification and every round appeared to be much lighter primer strikes than stock. Never had any with the original Striker springs so I will be going back to the original springs. But I do love the Apex trigger travel.

ive got the striker spring in my SD. its fired flawlessly since putting it in about 700-800 rounds ago. got the guide rod from galloway on order now as well
