Apex trigger sear in my M&P

Hi everybody. The other day I installed an Apex Tactical trigger sear in my M&P .40. The result was a lighter trigger pull and a slightly more noticeable trigger reset.
The problem is, that after the install, the trigger was real gritty feeling. I took it back apart and lightly filed the sear to smooth it out, and it's a lot better, but still not great.
My question is, what should I use to really make it smooth?
I was thinking auto-body grade sandpaper, maybe 1000 grit?
Any help you could give me would be great. Thanks.

Disclaimer: no gunsmith skills on my part!

You can use a stone. If the part is hardened then the hardened portion is not very thick and you really just want to polish the surface, not remove any material and get through the hardened layer.

Brownell's or Midway have stones for sale. Get a few (different grades) and proceed carefully.

You may consider asking for opinions in the Lounge, too, where there is probably more reading traffic.

I took the Apex sear out and smoothed it out with 2000 grit sandpaper, and that made a huge difference.
Also, at several people's suggestions, I ordered the Apex Ultimate Striker Block today. Hopefully I'll have it to install by this weekend.

The striker block is giving you grit feel. I would refrain from messing with sear, is a well done custom part. I have one of the first ones when they first came out, in my 40 mp. Many K of rounds still happy. It's 4.2 pound pull, very smooth.

I got the Apex striker block in the mail today. I installed it right away and tried out the gun.

What a difference!! The trigger is as smooth as glass now.

I did my own striker block, before apex came out with theirs. It's easy just to buy it, but can be done. I bought one once for my MP45 made of titanium, looks cool! But works the same, things were cheaper, a while ago. I think I paid 25 bucks or some thing for apex sears, when first came out, oh! The good ole days,

After the sear and striker block, it feels like I have a new gun. I'm so happy with it, I don't foresee changing another thing, except for a set of nice sights. But as far as the functionality of the gun, I'm happy.
I'm glad I spent the few bucks. I'm looking forward to a couple trips to the range this weekend.
