I am sure this has been covered before but I do not know where to look. Have a M&P 9MM Compact and have heard about these triggers. Can someone tell me how much it would improve the stock trigger and what is the cost?

There is night and day difference between the Apex Polymer trigger and the one that comes in the 9c. No comparison, Nada, Zilch.
Buy the Apex Polymer trigger and the Duty Action Carry Kit and you will have a different pistol. I did and will never be sorry. I now have a 5 lb trigger, very predictable, good audible click on reset(if that is important to you) and one of the best things is you get rid of that 2 piece hinged in the middle trigger that comes in the gun that seems to pinch the trigger finger.
S&W should produce their M&P's with a trigger like this.

Try shooting both and decide for yourself.

There are several Apex products. Google/Bing/Yahoo Apex Tactical, click on Shop to see all of their products and prices.
Discussed above are two products: the Apex Duty Carry Action Enhancement Kit (shortened often to DCAEK) that consists of a new sear, new striker block, and several new springs. This can be installed in your gun without changing the stock M&P trigger. These are the components that will give you the biggest improvement smoothing out the trigger break and adjusting the trigger pull weight.
Apex also sells two after-market triggers, a polymer one mentioned above and an aluminum trigger that is somewhat broader and flatter. These can be installed with or without an Action Enhancement Kit and are supposed to help reduce the amount of initial take-up. I have the polymer one in my Pro Series and like it, but am not sure how much it changed the take-up to be honest. (You don't want to remove too much take-up on a gun without a safety!)
Apex also sells several competition Action Enhancement Kits. They recommend against using these in a self defense gun. Having the Duty/Carry kit in my Pro Series and Shield, I would agree that you really don't need a lighter trigger than you can get with that kit, particularly since you can lighten the trigger pull noticeably by using the stock S&W trigger spring rather than the stronger spring supplied by Apex.

I have their competition trigger
3.5 lbs real light short crisp barely any reset.....
works as advertised but takes some getting used to
Don't be scared by the 'competition' kit. It's much more flexible than the duty kit.
Most people buy the duty kit and don't use the Apex heavier trigger return spring anyway. Get the competition kit, and you get to use whatever spring combos you want to get a pull you want. A competition kit can do everything the duty can, and more.

Sorry my brain kicked back on, I changed it out in all of my M&P's and I love the Apex duty kit. The competition springs felt a little mushy to me but I use them as carry guns so I'm not worried about that.

I have installed the Apex Shield carry kit, and would not carry mine without it. The heavier spring that comes with the kit is just fine.
However, I found the aluminum Shield trigger just didn't work for me (and I wanted it to work - the flatter shape is neat). What I didn't like was the sharp edges of the middle safety piece. It was uncomfortable enough I took it out. If Apex would just round the edges a bit more, it would be the final piece in the puzzle.

Actually I found the same with my aluminium trigger installed the the Shield, as did a few others as discussed in a thread earlier in the year. At the suggestion of someone here on the board, i took a small file to the edges to knock them off a tad, and it felt fine after that. I've since sold the Shield and moved to a M&Pc, but typically will buy the poly trigger if available, as it's much easier to install, and you don't have to worry about that edge.
Now, the Apex Flat Face trigger only comes in aluminum (at least so far), but I didn't have the middle blade sharpness issues with it, so maybe Apex has improved on that recently.

Apex says that the FSS sear will not work with the stock trigger, I have extras of both those parts but have never gotten around to putting them into a pistol to see what happens. Maybe one of these days
