I was looking to buy one of these. I always wanted one. What would be a current value of this model, with the box and papers? I know these guns are bringing good money.

If you can find a 4" 16-4 complete with combats, box and goodies for less than $1800, jump on it. Nice examples with combats $1500+, shooters $1200+

They were always $1200 - $1500 whenever I would see them on Gun Broker, and with the pandemic, they go for more now.

If you really want one, you may just have to bite the bullet and pay more then you want to get what you want.

In time, it will be worth what you paid for it.

Smith & Wessons hood their value and some even go up.

This one would go up.

Rare to see one sell at under $2000 nowadays.
As a comparison, new they sold for less than 4 truck tires. Now they are generally more than 8 tires.

They don't turn up all that often. I got my four inch two years ago and traded a 3.5 inch 27-2 for it; just lucked in to that trade with a fellow Forum member. Not sure of the value now, haven't seen one for sale locally for a long time. I will say they're great guns, S&W should make them again. This is one of a few "recent" (that is to say within the last 40 years) that I'd probably buy when I found it and not worry too much about the price. Good luck.
