These early Model 57s were both shipped in April 1964, the first month of regular production of the .41 Magnum!

The 6" gun #237360 shipped April 1st (Happy Birthday) in it's "Velour" lined case.

I have a 64 6" and would love to one day buy a 64 4" shooter...

There is one more 64 6" that is in a shop right now being "reduced" to 5"....but it will never look like Doc's original 5"....

Nice guns...

Bob

And being an old geezer, I remember well when they were introduced! :-)

J.C. thank goodness you're still with us. Good to see these 57s again.!
Regards
Chuck

Chuck, Glad to be here! For both of us, another year winding down...My youngest daughter graduates this year...and get this - she's considering the LE field with her eye on the FBI/ forensics! You just never know....

I guess that some of us have to just be happy.

With our pedestrian grade guns. Although I will say that my blue 57 is an S series gun with the best blueing job that I have ever encountered on a pistol. :)

Yup, for some reason they stopped short about .024" when they bored the barrel!

Not only did they stop short on boring the barrel, they ran out of those blue flocked lining for the presentation cases and had to cut up an old Motel 6 blue velour bed spread in order to line the boxes! Innovation! Innovation...What were they thinking anyway?
:D;)

Thanks for bringing up this old thread. I have #S238930 shipped April 20, 1964. It is a 6" in its velvet lined case. When I got it I thought it had custom stocks and a "Bubba" lined case, but later learned about "Coke" stocks and the special lined cases that were only used on these first 57s. Great memories!
P.S. Hopefully you have obtained the correct SATs for yours since 2010.
Mike
