I just bought an FDE MOE, with one FDE hicap mag. I paid $600, otd, including taxes and fees. Considering what it would have cost/taken to "upgrade" a standard to the MOE, I think it was a decent deal. Out of my three local dealers, only one had this edition and they only had one. I had to snatch it up. They also sold me TWO black hicap mags for $30, which saved me $20. I've been to the range 4 times already and put about 500 rounds of different kinds of ammo through it. I'm trying to figure out which it chews through best. So far, the Federal X high-velocity bulk ammo has been performing pretty well. About 98-99% reliable right out of the box. Not bad, I'll take that. I've tricked it out with an inexpensive Simmons 3-9x32 scope (decent out to about 100 yards), a Tapco FDE short fore-grip (with internal storage) and a NEBO flashlight/laser combo (for short/medium shots). It's a nice set-up so far. If anyone has any suggestions for stuff to add, or a better, yet relatively inexpensive scope, I'd be interested. I spent more on my riser-ring base than I did on the scope. I feel a solid, well made base, is critical. I'm new to this weapon and this forum, so any suggestions are welcome! I feel I bought the best .22 cal, semi-auto, multi-purpose long gun on the market. S&W got this one right and the cost of shooting is so low, my range time has hugely increased. How can you beat that? Great forum!
