being new to these forums i would like some info on a top of the line cleaning kit for an ar 15 rifle. i just bought it and want to keep it in good shape. thank you

And a warm welcome from “wild and wonderful “ West Virginia at least that’s what they tell us.

As to cleaning kits Otis make a nice one has everything you need for chamber to bore cleaning. you can find them cheap sometimes on e*ay just keep and eye open for the cheaper priced ones with shipping I've gotten several for less then $30 with shipping or get yourself a bore snake and other parts to clean your AR. Do a search on the forum lots of discussions on it.

Welcome, I second the motion on the Otis kit, I have the tactical version that is 5.56/.223 specific. It comes with a little tube of cleaner/lube, but you will want to get a bigger bottle of whatever you prefer (I'm not going to the "what is the best cleaner/lube/preservative" area, there's another thread about that and I've already voiced my preference there)

Welcome from Texas tinner73. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

The kits are really a good investment. However, I always carry a Bore Snake and find that it is very useful for a quick cleanup at the range. I would also get a chamber brush and gas tube cleaners (long pipe cleaners). Midway is a good source for these items.

This is the first forum I have ever joined and am having trouble sifting through the massive amount of great intell here. I have many questions in many areas. How do I narrow the quest for knowledge ? Put 525 rounds through ar.22 and it's filthy. Tried to check on you tube best cleaner/procedure found a good how to but the guy used soap and water. Many comments on harsh cleaners damaging composite. My son and I love this thing. I apologize for the randomness.

Welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania!

Welcome to the forum from Virginia!

You should find some good information in the M&P 15 forum. I have an old one-piece rifle rod that is coated to keep from damaging the barrel, but they are expensive.
