Hi all, back ta bore ya again! My first range session with the 15-22 was a bit of a disapointment, lots of jams, non plated bullets would stop on the feed ramp, complete with bent bullet and dentet case, a few fired caseings would stick in the chamber. I did clean it before fireing it includeing the chamber. Well took it home, gave it a good cleaning and polished the feed ramp and chamber with Flitz. Had it out this afternoon and it worked like a charm! The non plated Winchester and Federal fed and fired without a hitch. Accuracy at fifty yard's was good and with the (300 meter sight) flipped up could ring the ten inch steel plate at two hundred yards with a top of the plate hold every time. Boy it takes a .22lr a long time to get out there! Even the el-cheapo BSA reflex red dot sight retained its zero and functioned. I definitly need a few spare mag's. All in all I am a happy camper now, I have a S&W M&P AR-15 with the Eotech sight, and with the 15-22 set up the same way it will make a good training rifle as well as a lot of fun!

glad you had a better run this time, i sent mine back into S&W because of the jamming etc. i couldnt shot like 5rds, it seemed without it jamming.

oyeah, i had several of the 'bent bullets' dents, etc with mine, needless to say i was very disappointed in my first S&W product. Hope to get it back soon, and works like it should have in the first place.

Great to hear, first review had me worried. However, still sounds better than the Colt counterpart.

Hey TxShooter2k9, hope you get your rifle back soon and all is well! I know how you feel, I bought one of the GSG-5 carbines and had all sorts of trouble with it, I think I have it sorted out but I feel I bought a $500.00 lemon with that one! I did not send it back as the thing should have been right the first time and from what I have read just about all of em go back repetedly. I am impressed with the materials used in the construction and the ease of take down and maintenence of the S&W. The GSG has a complicated multi piece zink bolt carrier and I hear the new Colt 22 is much the same.

My brother-in-law had a few minor magazine problems when he first received his M&P15-22. He gave it a good cleaning and performed great over this past weekend. He stated..."the more I shoot it the better it gets"!

Mine got shipped off by UPS yesterday, S&W wont even get it till Tuesday from the Tracking info. They told me they like to get them in and out within 10 days. The manager at Academy said he was going to talk to his buyer thats gets there guns from S&W, and see if they could put a push on it, get it back quicker for me. Im really excited to get it back, and it work right, i love the gun.

Thanks alot, much appreciated, im really excited to get it back, i bought the Federal 550 bulk pack at walmart yesterday. Thats what i'll be using this time around.

My 1'st range session I fired 600 rnds of assorted ammo and the functioning of my M&P15-22 was 100% perfect. I started out with 100 of CCI Mini Mags, followed by 100 rnds Winchester Super X 40gr, 200 rnds Federal 550 bulk 36 gr HP and finally 300 rnds of federal 510s 40gr which I have a lot of. I bought a Colt/Umarex M4 22 when they first came out but feel the M&P totally outclasses it. The Colt is reliable and accurate but the S&W has a better trigger and is much better engineered. I hate the fact that you can't take the bolt and carrier out of the Colt for cleaning. The M&P on the other hand field strips just like any full size AR. When more M&Ps come into the market and people get a chance to do a side by side comparison I believe the M&P will outsell the Colt by a wide margin. I paid nearly $600.00 for the Colt M4 whereas I got a great LEO discounted price of $369.00 for the M&P.
I got bored shooting at 25 and 50 yards so here is a group I shot at 100 yards firing fast, not to bad for these old eyes. After I mount an optic I know the groups will really shrink.

Congrads, great shooting, glad your and everybody else is having such great luck with your guns, i so excited to get mine back. Got a couple weeks or more to wait.

Hey mag318, glad to see you had a run and gun out of the box! Thats good shooting for rapid fire and a new gun to boot!

Bob, The gun was flawless from the get go, as it should be. With everything I read about the Colt M4 22 I was really lucky mine functioned fine, although the safety lever did fall out during shooting. The M&P just blows the Colt away, it's going to be interesting to see what other variations of the M&P 15-22 S&W will come out with in the future.

Wish mine would have been flawess, and i didnt have to send it in to S&W after only 4 days of owning it. Cant wait to get it back from S&W though, be awhile, but i miss it, and really hope i have no more issues when i get it back, and i can enjoy it.

Any more followups?

I was at a gun show down here on Florida yesterday and was in the market for a SIG 522, GSG5, Ruger SR 22, or the Colt AR22. I really liked the feel an, weight, and the overall "look -ability" to the Colt - is there any opinion that makes the AR22 decidedly a hands down favorite over the others?

Since getting mine back from S&W last October, been trouble free. Love the 15-22. With my 3-9x42 Barska scope and my caldwell rest, i can shoot the bullseye out of a target, dang accurate. Would Highly Recommend it.

The Colt is rather bizarre. Unscrew the compensator to disassemble? Sure isn't mincing the M16 there. The M&P15-22 needs no introduction to clean and libricate, it's all standard parts in the lower.

The M&P15-22 locks the bolt open when the magazine is empty. A very nice touch.

So true. As an ex-Colt M4 OPS owner, I would not suggest anyone would purchase this .22.
My referral would be the S&W M&P 15-22, Sig 522, or Ruger SR22. The 15-22 and the 522 work just like their big brother .223s.
