I have never been a fan of the AR carbine stocks. I just got a new S&W AR15/22 rifle and it is great but would like to put a fixed stock on it. The receiver extension appears to be part of the receiver. IS there any way short of some pretty major surgery to do this?
TIA

You need the wrench to remove the buffer tube. I recall Brownells has a gunsmithng tip on replacing you stock. If you do a search you will find the video.

I found it!GunTech : Changing Standard Butt Stock To Collapsible - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools

The A2 butt stock requires the longer buffer spring and tube. The tube is part of the butt stock. So remove the tube on your rifle and put on the A2. Remember to change the spring if it's not included with the stock.

Good luck.

The S&W AR15-22 is different from the standard AR's. The receiver and extension appear to be made of all one piece of whatever plastic they are made of.
