Why not do it the easy and simple way, the same way the military does? Sight it in a 25 yards. At that range you should not need to boresight, and you don't need a lot of expensive equipment

I have a Sitelite bore laser(got it at bass pro shops$100). It is way more acurate than the laserlyte (from walmart$30) that i had. and another one I got from dunhams (about $89). Yes they are only to get you on paper but the sitelite will point to the same place no matter what position you spin the shaft in the barrel I found the others can be / are off by quit a bit. jmo

hope that helps

Why spend money on any kind of bore sighting equipment for an AR?

1. Place a target at 25 yards.
2. Remove the upper from the lower and place the upper on a good support, such as a sandbag.
3. Adjust the position of the upper to center the bullseye in the center of the barrel while looking through the receiver.
4. While keeping the barrel in the same position, adjust the sights or optic to align with the target.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until no further adjust is needed.

I recently bore sighted my .308 Win. a month ago using this method. The first shot fired was in the 3/4" bullseye.

It doesn't get any easier than that.

I don't even do that. I just use the back of a B-27 Silhouette target at 25 yds. Put your cross hairs in the middle of that and fire a round. If you don't hit somewhere on that big piece of paper from 25 yds. there is something else wrong.
Anyway after you see where the first bullet hits, just adjust the scope or whatever from there.

I do exactly this (with a "target" a little further away usually - about 100 yards). Have gotten to be very proficient with it; always within 8 inches at 100 yards, often times much closer than that. I have a breach loading laser too - but never use it any more, it is no more accurate than the Mk1 Eyeball -I'd only use that on rifles where the design is such that you can't have a clear line of sight through the bore.

Just set up a target, aim for zero, see where bullet hits on target, or a puff of dirt off target. If your off the target estimate and you'll be on the target. Now zero. Hope it helps.
