Are Apex triggers now standard on M&P 10mms from the S&W factory?

I've purposely -- and with great difficulty -- waited well into the M&P 10mm's 2.0 life cycle before I allowed myself to fall in love with one.

Several days ago, the siren call drew me to my favorite gun store. There, I was told all three of the 10mm M&Ps they had in stock had Apex triggers in them.

The sales associates believed the pistols came that way from the factory.

Can anyone verify that they did indeed come from the factory this way -- and, if so, about how long has Smith been installing the Apexes?

The trigger I tested was nothing short of astounding!

Well, I can't say 100% but I doubt it.

Were they new or used?

Here's the Apex Trigger from their kit followed by the stock M&P trigger.

They're factory original and could be installed on any 2.0

Here's where the idea originated...

According to Christopher S. in msgo.com (Mississippi Gun Owners) This appears to be the latest I can find:

So S&W partnered with Apex for the factory triggers on the Shield Plus family as well as those 10mm M&P pistols. S&W also said going forward all new pistols would have that as a standard.

I bought my M&P 10mm 2.0 (4.6") back in Sept. 2022. It has the S&W trigger, which was a little gritty for the first few rounds, but is really nice now. I thought about installing an Apex trigger, but I like the factory trigger and reset. It figures that S&W is now issuing M&Ps with Apex triggers...I just hope that they've fixed the F2F and mag drop issues that some customers have experienced.

My August-2023 purchased new in box 4" model has a May-2022 date on the S&W box. The trigger is possibly my favorite Tupperware striker fired trigger out of everything I own. No need for improvement, IMO.

You must be referring to the "M2.0 Flat Face Trigger" per S&W's description on their website. The flat face trigger is now the stock factory trigger. It has nothing to do with the aftermarket Apex company.

I was told all new M&P 10mms have Apex triggers -- straight from the factory.

That seems simple enough. It's either true -- or not.

"That seems simple enough. It's either true -- or not."

Definitely not true. Anyone who says an M&P (any M&P, not just 10mm) ships from the factory with an Apex trigger is spreading misinformation.

The "Flat Face Trigger" in the 10mm's and other new 2.0 pistols is a S&W designed and made trigger.

Gun store employees are notoriously ignorant.

Except when they're not -- and when they deal directly with the company rep!

All three of the brand new M&P 10mms they had on their shelves had SPECTACULAR APEX triggers.

It's CERTAIN the store didn't put them into the pistols.

So how else do you explain it -- SPONTANEOUS MOLECULAR TRANSMOGRIFICTION BY THE TRIGGER FAIRY????

How the Devil do you know???? See my last post! It also applies to you!

I was asking an honest question -- and trying to get to the truth. You're NOT helping!

Sadly, S&W has had some MAJOR problems with the rollout of these pistols.

It's perfectly reasonable that they'd do something like factory APEX triggers to stem the hemorrhaging from the M&P 10mm ambushes taking place on YouTube.

This S&W pistol has been getting MASSACRED on the internet -- even worse than the Sig X-TEN -- which has MUCH worse problems besetting it!

Company reps are not above exaggerating or stretching the truth. In many fields reps are above all else salesmen, not subject matter experts. If S&W was putting apex triggers in all M&P pistols it would be a big selling point. It would show up in ads and on the website describing the pistols. It would not be a secret passed down to factory reps and select dealers.

I have seen Glock make variants of their guns for specific distributors and its possible S&W does the same but I have never seen it. More likely is the dealer noticed the new trigger with the blade is better than the old one, asked the rep if it was an APEX trigger. And the rep, not knowing what an APEX trigger is but not wanting to appear ignorant, said yes.

I bought an OR M&P Compact a few weeks ago and the new trigger is definitely better than the hinged trigger in my 2.0 Compact. A trigger can never be too crisp but I wouldn't want any lighter in carry or home defense gun. But I have never shot a M&P with an APEX trigger so I cannot comment on how the latest factory trigger compares.

My dear Outrider, the information I posted is fact. How the devil would I know? I confirmed with close contacts at S&W that know what their company puts in their products.

Perhaps there is some confusion because S&W changed trigger designs from the original curved trigger to a new "flat faced" design. Because Apex made a name for themselves selling improved aftermarket triggers, some might confuse any new trigger profile with the aftermarket brand Apex.

If you don't want to believe me that S&W uses their own design triggers in the M&P and not aftermarket ones, that's fine. I won't argue on the internet.
