Are M1917 grips numbered to the gun?

Should one or both grips be numbered to the gun? Both grips on my Victory are numbered, and only the right grip of my K38 is. Is that correct as well? Thanks, Don

On my 1917, there is a very faint sn on the right grip done in pencil.

Concur with clang, penciled on. Hard to see sometimes, but easy to remove with any type of cleaning.

I have only seen penciled markings as well.

Same here, pencilled in ,most of the time the right panel ONLY, BUT......... seen a few on 'both' and also a few that were stamped. MY bet is that if 'military' possibly an armorer did this, though they usually preferred to "mix & NOT match", just like lots of the 'parts'....
