Hi all,

I'm very new to revolvers here, and I recently picked up the new Classic Model 10-14 for a decent price at my local gun shop. I really like the size, weight, and proportions of the gun, plus the fact that it's a new blued S&W revolver! :)

The thing is, it comes stock with the round-butt wood grips. I prefer the square-butt wood grips. Product: K/L Square Dymondwood Checkered Service

But, I have read that the revolver frame must be correct to properly fit the square-butt grips. Is this so? I don't know yet what the frame looks like as the gun is still in the shop as part of the 10-day BS waiting period that they put us through in CA. :(

Any help would be appreciated.

From catalog cut and description, that gun has a roundbutt frame, the square butt grips you show will not fit properly. There is such a thing as a Round to Square conversion grip that fills the space with wood or plastic.

Where do I get one of those?

Lots of conversion grip options out there but they will be either the combat or target style which are larger than the magna style you have pictured. Altamont and Ahrends are just a couple. I would check out the Classifieds forum here to see what you can find.

I have seen spacers made out of wood and aluminum to fill out square butt grips on a round butt frame, too. Not something you can buy, but not too hard to cut out.
