Having worked in the stocking dept at S&W for 14 years, I would say those are rosewood. Scratch the inside and smell it. Rosewood was terrible to work with, besides being very hard, the dust was very sticky gumming up machines and dulling cutters quickly.

I agree with the rosewood crowd. The open pores are a give away. But I could be wrong - it would not be the first time...

I have four pair of rosewood stocks I bought from Eagle Grips from about 1983 to 1992 All of mine are much darker than those in the photos, but maybe there are different shades. I'm certainly no expert.
