Are you happy with your Shield???

Love mine! Have the Shield in 40 and put 600 rounds flawlessly.

Use it as my primary CC daily.

Very accurate on range my only issue is that my hand starts to fatigue and after 50 rounds I start loosing accuracy not the gun.

I have a pair of fingerless padded palm gloves that I bought for riding my motorcycle, I wear one on the right hand when I'm going to shoot more than a few rounds, it's a big help, they sell them at Harbor Freight.

I got one for myself when they came out (9mm) . I was able to keep it for almost 3 days until we (wife and I) went to the range and she claimed it for her CCW pistol.

She was carrying an M&P Compact and shot better with the shield and carries it more due to it being slimmer and lighter.

I have a Green Crimson Trace laser on hers as well.

I had to buy me one to replace the one she took from me. Both have safeties and both have been shot with zero issues.

Makes for a very easy carry pistol. Its thin and light and I forget a lot of time that I have it on.

I will tell you I have take off the plastic filler part on the 8 round magazines. It will get in the way at the worst time. (slides up and down the mag and can make a magazine change a real challenge). (check Military Arms Arms Channel on Youtube, good video on the M&P Shield)

If you get the Talon grips they include a piece for the extended mag and it ties the two pieces together, plus they sell extras if you have more than one extended mag.

Energizer Bunny right out of the box, wouldn't have kept it otherwise. Only issue was with bad ammo. In my waistband as I type. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

I'm extremely pleased with mine. It exceeds my expectations. I did expect it to be reliable, and so far it's been perfect. But I didn't expect it to be such a soft, forgiving piece - given it's size and weight. Not sure how they do it but I like it.
Yes the slide/springs are stiff. Virtually all smaller handguns shooting 9/40/45 have to be. Physics is such a drag.
Now, before I purchased mine I wish I had known that a non-safety version was coming. I would have preferred that. I also would have purchased the .40 and a 9mm barrel so that I had more flexibility had I known that the barrels were interchangeable. Today I only shoot 9mm's but having the option would be nice.

M&P Shield

Yes I really like this weapon. I have full size version too. For what ever reason the Shield is more accurate then full size. Nice gun!:)

YES, YES, YES!

I'm asking this because my wife wants a M&P Shield 9mm...

Thanks in advance...

Took my Shield to the range last week and was shooting steel at 11, 25 & 50 yards. I was using 124 grain plated round nose reloads with 3.7 grains of Solo 1000. It shot quite well out of my SR9c and Shield.
I noticed I was patterning tight at 11 yards with the Shield so I started shooting at the 6"x8" 25 yards without missing. I contemplated the 50 yards shot and finally took a chance. Before this, I never took such a long shot with a pistol without a scope. I actually hit the target center but about 2.5 " low. I was blown away. I am not that great of a shot! Needless to say, I didn't try again and was very satisfied with such accuracy.

Put the first few rounds through the Shield 9 today. The gun performed flawlessly with American Freedom 124gn FMJ. Accuracy is adequate. Didn't notice any issues with locking fully loaded magazines. Didn't notice any issues with operating the slide. I had thought that I might get some irritation from the bottom of the trigger guard, but I didn't feel that, at all. So far, I'm very happy with the gun.

M&P 40 Shield

It packs quite a punch when fired.
Looking at getting the M&P 9mm. Have fired several hundred rounds in the 40 with no failures.

M&P 9mm Shield

I have a Springfield XDS and XDM, also a M&P CORE 9L, I fired a Shield the other day and liked it better than the before mentioned. Was able to hold tight groups right out of the box. A very nice gun. Size is perfect for a carry gun, almost as good as a Bodyguard

Is it normal to get casing shavings under the slide? I have put 150 rounds through mine and every time I clean it I notice shavings. First brass now aluminum (bought 2 boxes of federal aluminum) is this normal?

I just sold both my Shields - a 9 and a 40. They were adequate shooters, but seemed lacking somehow. I replaced them with an M&P 45 mid-size and an H&K VP 9.

I've had a 40 Shield over a year. It arrived at the dealer MA compliant and had a 11 pound trigger pull and I could not keep a tight group (low and right). I put an Apex trigger kit in and the trigger pull fell to 5.75 lbs. All the grit in the trigger disappeared. I now have consistent 2 in. groups out to 25 yards. It has now become my concealed carry of choice. My Sig and Glock just don't hold as well. I also put an Apex trigger kit in every pistol I have if they make one for it.

Just bought a 9mm this month, exceptional tight groups except they were all low right, drifted the front sight, and it is dialed in now. Maybe some of it was me since I have not shot for sometime. I thought the slide was a little stiff, but it seemed to loosen some after firing it. I fired numerous types of ammo, not one single problem with any feed or jam. Great weapon at a great price of 315.00 out the door.

I have the .40 and hated it until I changed the trigger and the sights. It has quickly become my favorite gun for ccw.

Love the Shield. Have the .40 version. Springs are really tight, but I'm assuming they will loosen up.

Had an auto feed failure during the trip to the range, but the gun was pretty dry out of the box, surprisingly.

It happened one other time that same trip, but has not happened since, 150 rounds later.

IMO, perfect EDC. Went from Glock to S&W and not looking back.

My favorite EDC

It's very easy to carry and reliable too. I've used many different types of ammo without problems. My favorite to carry with many choices in holsters and accessories.

What not to like?

I like this gun more and more. Very capable and reliable. Great trigger. 6,000 rounds in two years. Attached is target from my last trip to a range with Shield 9mm - 4 mags/30 rounds from 7 yards. Not my best score, but nothing to be shy of...

Oh, forgot to mention, I lost white dot from the front sight as well, but since then I replaced original sights with aftermarket once.
