Are you happy with your Shield???

I couldn't be happier with my Shield 9mm. Yes, the slide was difficult to lock back at first, but it became easier after several hundred rounds. I never found it difficult to chamber a round, only when locking the slide back for take down.

Talon rubber grips made the pistol more comfortable and more controllable to shoot.

The RSA is not difficult for me to install correctly when reassembling the pistol, so I don't know where that's coming from. Have to admit, the trigger pull was heavy at 7 1/2 lbs, but an Apex sear brought it down to 5 1/2 lbs, which feels perfect.

I like mine. But it's a bear to rack the slide. No way that my wife could operate it. Others are different. I have used some whose slides were almost the same as a full size M&P. Not mine. After two trips to the mothership and four recoil springs, it remains almost impossible.

But it's accurate, it's perfectly sized, it fits nicely in my hand, it's balanced, and it's top notch quality. Kind of an enigma.
This my impression too. Many folks as they get older will find manipulating the Shield to be a problem. Not so with Glock, Ruger LC9 or one of the XD pistols. I have mixed feelings about the Shield, but it is definitely a good gun if you can manage the recoil spring(working the slide) and you get that heavy trigger with excessive over travel fixed. I am liking it better after break in.

I've had mine 5 days and have only been able to fire 3 magazines of WWB ammo through it because of the weather, but I love it, the trigger is perfect, the slide is stiff but managable, recoil not much more than my Bersa Thunder Plus .380 and I love the concealability. I've seen complaints about the recoil spring being hard to reinstall, not a problem for me, just make sure it's in the slots and looks straight, some people are too picky. All in all a great gun, will report back after putting a few hundred rounds through it. I must add, it is deadly accurate, I've never been an expert shot but I'm keeping them within a 5" grouping from 20' in 20* weather, and I was hurrying to squeeze of the rounds so I could get back inside.

Replacement Shield/ In Love Again

I have one that is now running like a top. It was painful, with several trips to S&W to get it that way. Lots of folks have great results new out of the box, others not.

If you have patience and want that weapon to work, go for it. Hope it will click sooner than it did for me.

(Mine is also a 9mm)
I'd sent you last night one about just getting a replacement Shield9 back. I took it out this morning and fired a hundred rounds through it. Wow! Talk about a nail driver. The previous one has unacceptable shot placement. No problems with extraction and ejection?__If I'd had a bucket and was shooting exactly after reloading the mags_they'd have landed in a bucket!
One problem and someone addressed this a while back. The last round from each mag every reload__the slide failed to lock back.
Before I call CS (likely a weak spring assembly) Maybe that old information will pop up again. I figure the slide is going back enough to extract and eject fine but maybe not enough to lock
back?
I figure this will be a easy correctable issue. Love it.
Stay safe.

My shield 9MM alternates with a 40C as my carry gun. Neither one has ever had an issue in 1000 rounds, although I did replace the RSA in the Shield because the spring looked like it had been smashed with a hammer. A single call to CS had a new RSA mailed out although it did take a month to process.:(

Mine had 3 FTE in the first 50 rds and hasn't had a problem in the last 1200 rds. I was happy with it out of the box. After doing the Apex Duty/Carry and Apex trigger I'm very happy with it. It now has a 4lb 4oz trigger pull with a very nice clean break, less take up and over travel. :D And it's very accurate to boot. I"m a 1911 fan and this is my first striker fired pistol.

Been my alternate carry gun in 40 cal for about About 500 rounds so far with no issues. The 40 is a handful but I do not run more than 50 rounds at any target session.
Slim design make it very comfortable along with the weight.
Slide is still abit stiff, but getting better with age....

Just fired mine for first time this past weekend and I loved it. Put about 100 rounds through it without any issue and was extremely accurate. Going to take it to range soon and put another 100-150 rounds down range and if it handles the way it did earlier, it will become my EDC.

OK! Took my replacement Shield 9 out yesterday and fired fifty rounds. (Had five hundred with me) Accuracey? Tore out a three inch hole in the center at 25 yds. Extraction perfect! Ejection? If I'd had a bucket and was standing perfectly in same place after reloading the mags__all the fired casings would be in that bucket.
Problem__troublesome recoil spring assembly. Had noticed it when cleaning and lubing the piece. S&W is mailing a new spring assembly. I was having serious doubts about the Shield. No more
doubts.

I love my 9mm Shield. No problems with it so far. I put black rubber Talon grips on it and they look and feel great. I pocket carry it in a De Santis pocket holster and forget it is there sometimes. My daughter shot it and liked it so well that she bought her one. She will pick it up in a couple of days.

M&P Shield

I have a Shield in 40. I use Fiocchi and Sellier & Bellot in 180 grain ammo. It has never had a problem and is very accurate. I carry it all the time. Great weapon IMHO.

I'm a woman and love mine. Had to work with the rack for a bit. It has gotten better or I have one. The more I shoot it the better it gets.

I haven't put that many rounds through mine, but every time I do I am amazed at how a little gun like that can be so accurate. It is kind of uncanny. I shoot mine better than any of my other guns. Easy to carry as well.

Mine has been awesome. Never any issues....except for the typical tight rear sight to remove. My girlfriend did not like the feel of the trigger at first but she was dead on shooting it. She wanted the LC9 instead. Buy the gun that fits her the best.
