That is incorrect. It will only require that whoever owns and controls the AI want something. That "something" is age old. Money and power
Those with money and power are seldom satisfied with what they already have.
What gets me is everyone worrying that AI will put people out of work. In reality there should be no problem with people not having work. There is nothing actually wrong with more leisure and family time. The idea that everyone needs a job and to work is artificial and didn't exist until relatively late in human history. In reality there is more than enough food and shelter for everyone and the amount of labor necessary to produce enough for everyone it is relatively small. The problem is greed and distribution. The majority believe in the concept that "MORE" is better. More will make you "happy and satisfied" LMAO
Americans regard themselves are highly advanced and civilized and work an average of 43 hours a week, Many primitive people work less than 12 hours a week on their livelihood. American children are mostly raised by day care and school systems. Parents spent very little time with them in comparison the those "stupid primitive" tribes. Guess which group has the most violent crime and people in prison. Guess which society has over 1/2 of its population taking some sort of antidepressant?
Hey, we got more "stuff" than they do.
Are you willing to live a “primitive society” lifestyle by working only 12 hours a week? Where is your money to live going to come from?
What would it be like if Doctors, surgeons, dentists, police officers, farmers etc. only worked part time? When your house air conditioning quits in August or the hot water heater craps out and the repairman says he might be able to make it by in a couple or 3 weeks because since he only works part-time is that going to be okay with you, or more importantly, YOUR WIFE?
It is not good for humans to have too much time on their hands with little responsibility for their own situations. You have to look no farther than some of the American Indian reservations and Eskimo villages where the primary activities are often laying around, drinking, drug abuse, fighting, and sex.
(A friend of mine says that all sounds heavenly)
The situation in our major cities amongst the under and unemployed of all but Asian races that draw government/taxpayer benefits are even worse.
BTW, I have been to Montana a few times and really liked most of what I saw. Made me think I should have moved up there 40 years ago. The idea of cutting and burning wood for heat again like I used to a few years ago if I had to does not bother me at all.
Since officially achieving Old Fart Status a few years ago, I appreciate running hot water in the house a little more than I used to.
I’m all for more leisure time, but it’s a historical pattern that the societies that are the least industrious have the lowest standards of living, and are more likely to be conquered by more industrious rivals so the conquerors can avail themselves of the loser’s property and natural resources.
