very neat concept but if i need to shoot golf balls at 120.. and i want to shoot more exsp. ammo would i not just use my ar-15... im pretty sure these guns were built as trianers for the real ars meaning cheap to shoot many many rounds to get better without breaking the bank in ammo cost... but that being said... if there is a market im sure it will be filled shortly

If accuracy is the goal... Savage makes an impressive series of .17hmr rifles in the $400 range.

You guys are right on as usual! I have a Savage model 93R17 .17hmr. There is nothing that either my 15-22 or my 10-22 could do to compete with it when it comes to long range accuracy.
But, my 15-22 is still the most fun!

All these 22 AR type rifles came about during the peak of the shortages so that people could save money shooting. But the way people are dumping money into "accesories" for their tacti-cool 15-22, they could have just bought a real AR-15 and a pile of 5.56. I don't really see the point......

Or you could buy an AR15 and transfer the parts over... Isn't that the beauty of having a 22 version that's true to the real platform it mimics?
And my 15-22 even with accessories is still cheaper than an AR15 (or at least any of the AR's I'm interested in).
accuracy? if there are people REALLY shooting bottles at 200 yards with these guns then who needs anymore accuracy? but honestly if this gun was in a .17 wow, i would be on that like white on rice in a blizzard.
I'm just going on MY experience with MY gun. I haven't had any issues yet. So if I could get this gun in a slightly larger caliber without safety issues I would love to have one. Obviously if a rifle has oob issues (mine hasn't knock on wood) I sure wouldn't want it in a larger caliber.

I bought mine because bulk .22LR is 3¢/round. I can get Wolf 5.56mm for just a little more money than .22MAG and .17. My rifle is a surrogate for the full caliber model.

It would probably take some serious engineering trial and error to get the .17HMR to function the bolt adequately in an AR platform. I'm reasonably certain it can be done but costs might rise.

Well I think that these things do enough damage as is when they fire oob without it being a magnum round...
What a party pooper..... I say go for the 17 and add an AR style forward assist to bang on the rim for any chambering snags.

.17 vs .22lr and.223 for unselfish reasons.
1. Can my 9 year old kid shoot the .223 with the same enjoyment.(kick)
2. Can I teach my kids to shoot further than 50yrds. easier with a .22LR or .17? With a .223 would they start anticipating the kick.
3. Here in California we have laws against detachable mags with center fires; rimfire exempt.
There are other reasons but for those of us with families and small children or those that live in California it could be a nice option.
