I lost a spring while detail cleaning my M&P 340 and needed to order another one. I went to brownells and looked at the diagram they had but the detail was too small to figure out the name of the spring I needed. I called Smith and Wesson and asked if they could email me an exploded parts diagram I could actually see. Told them I'd gladly pay for it.

They told me they didn't have anything like that, and told me to go to Brownells. I told them I already had but couldn't see the one they had. They told me they couldn't help me.
I asked if they could sell me a replacement kit with one of every spring in that model. Figured I could always use the rest I didn't need later. The rep tells me they don't have a kit like that.

Doesn't it seem like it wouldn't be too much trouble to figure up what each spring cost and add them together. I know it would've taken a little time, but we are talking about a 860 dollar gun here.

In the end I tried to desribe where the spring was and ordered 3 of them. 3 dollars for the springs, 12 dollars for shipping. Sure hope they are the right ones!

I'm not too happy with the exchange. I find it hard to believe the company that makes the gun wil not sell a purchaser a parts diagram or doesn't sell a set of repplacement springs.

Anyone out there have another source for these diagrams? Or any advice?

Thanks OCD, I think you are right. Pretty much the smallest spring in the pistol. What they need is some type of exploded parts diagram that you can enlarge or zoom in on. Or a large poster. I have a cleaning mat that has a diagram of my Sig P-220 that is large enough to see enough detail to work with, I think it was around 20 bucks. I'd pay another 20 to get something like that for the 340.

I don't know about other browsers, but in Firefox Ctrl + zooms in and Ctrl - zooms out. Works fine on the Brownells diagram.

IIRC, there is some kind of ownership/trademark issue with the design of the guns- that's why there is no schematics. It's disappointing and frustrating at times- especially when imported arms and every other domestically made firearm have schematics included.

Gun Parts Corp also has a lot of schematics for a lot of the older models, and very little of the design itself has changed on most of the models since they were introduced. Specs on the parts have changed for different models- but not the names of the parts.

It's a trick to put in without mashing it or sending it to another zip code. If it is the sear spring, put the hammer and spring/sear back together in a large clear plastic bag.

Might want to get the AGI DVD (don't need the whole Armorers version) It really helps if you are going to completly disasemble and put back together, I bought a bunch of them when they where on sale half price.

I mainly got them for the Sig as I installed the SRT trigger in all of mine. Really helped even though they do not specifically cover the SRT

In Internet Explorer, you hold down the CTRL key and zoom in and out with the scroll wheel on the mouse
