What a poor place to carry a sidearm!! Almost screams steal me....Wonder if it was a collector grade Hi Point?

You know, the ones with the barrel engraved with the round it shoots.....

Asleep at the switch with the grip of his pistol hanging out for anyone walking by to grab it. Gotta love those Open Carry Morons, for equipping criminals with firearms for free.

One reason I like strong side carry either IWB or OWB as I can keep my arm over it,same with a shoulder holster just the draw with that is el crappy.

Now if somebody goes to grab my gun odds are they are gonna get stabbed....repeatedly

*ETA*

From looks of it sounds like the guy was doing back pocket carry and I'd guess the guy thought he was flitching a wallet.

If the gun had been correctly concealed, the grabber would not have known the guy was armed, yes?
I can't believe you just stood there and allowed it to happen; did you just watch the thief steal it and then look the other way?

Or, what makes you think it wasn't correctly concealed if you were not a witness?

The way I read it the guy had a mouse gun concealed in his back pocket, and the thief either noticed it was a concealed gun or just got a gun when he was fishing for a wallet.

Either way, speculating seems kind of silly. ;)

Based on the minimal information in the linked news item you are 100% correct that it is hard to know what to say! But that doesn't seem to stop anyone from making plenty of comments, probably without reading the item first before commenting

If you don't know what really happened then blaming the victim seems to be the obvious answer, doesn't it!!!!

The video was pretty clear...

I'm stunned that people here are trying to blame the victim for this crime.

So, if your car is stolen, is it your fault because you own a car? I mean, if you didn't own it, it wouldn't have been stolen from you.

All I see is the story, there is no video. Tried two browsers- no video.

Edit to add: Got it when I view on my tablet. Not sure but it looks like maybe his pocket holster rode up and he wasn't aware it was sticking out. His situational awareness was: total cluelessness.

It is idiots like this who make enemies for us, and empower the existing ones. One should never carry anything in a back pocket, period - any doctor worth the title will tell you not to due to the nerve damage that results. Behind the back carry is almost never prudent, period; no one should know you are armed until they have made it essential for them to become aware under negative circumstances, and there are good arguments for security holsters (and oh for the love of all that is holy, not a SERPA, but a quality product) if one has no realistic choice but to open carry.

Saw a photo on another forum of a guy with a full size pistol in some kind of horizontal small of the back carry. The photo was posted in a thread of "fail" photos, and for good reason. Clownshoes, just like the buffoon depicted in this video. They have not made the necessary investment in good training, so they have no idea what they have to do to adopt the armed lifestyle. The days of having the situational awareness of a rock should have ended before being armed in public. Buying garbage gear and using poor techniques are not optional.

Is there any excuse for the criminal's conduct? Of course not. But making life more difficult for criminals, instead of giving them an invitation to engage in their preferred behavior, is dumb at best, and unacceptable for anyone who wants to be an armed citizen. I wouldn't leave my doors unlocked just because I have guns and a protective dog - that's the mark of an idiot.

In life you have to do a little due diligence to prevent certain occurrences. If my car is locked and keys in my front pocket and someone mugs me and takes it then no, don't blame the victim. But if I leave the windows open, doors unlocked, and keys in the ignition while I'm in Walmart, you can't really think anything else besides that I'm an idiot for not thinking my car would get stolen

Same with concealed carry. A firearm in the hands of a criminal is dangerous. We should always be 100% aware of where our firearm is so that it can't get into the hands of kids, criminals, etc. Carrying in a pocket that is so loose someone can take your gun without you knowing is complete idiocity. My gun could not be taken from me without me knowing and that is how every firearm should be carried
