Some time ago I removed the firing pin from my Astra Constable .32acp. At the time the pistol had been transferred from my pistol shooting to my collecting license due to a law change and I was under the misapprehension it had to be “deactivated” (pistols don’t but long guns on collectors licenses do).

I now want to reinstall, the firing pin.

I remember there was some specific process to remove the hammer drop/safety in order to remove the firing pin and spring retainer, but for the life of me I cannot remember what that process was.

Can anyone assist me.

According to my copy of Firearms Disassembly: You use a drift punch to push the firing pin forward and "nudge" the safety unit out to the left side. Since you have the pin out you should be able to push the safety unit out as the only pressure should be from the combination safety/extractor spring............ The only additional note was that if the safety was very tight to set it in between safe and fire positions.

Thanks, that is what I did last time, and I recall the safety was difficult to remove.
