Audi TT 2.0 - Anybody have one? What's the good/bad/ugly?

Hello,
My wife had an '08 TT convertible bought brand new. Drove it 30k miles in 3 years. No mechanical problems at all in that time. Only problem was that the Sirius antenna cable was routed incorrectly at the factory causing reception problems.
2.0 Turbo motor is very reliable and gets excellent mpg. Highway driving gave 32 mpg.
18 inch summer tires are scary in the snow, hence the summer designation. Potholes are not their friends. Follow factory maintenance schedule for the DSG transmission even though the factory extended the warranty on it.
Hope this helps you out,
Chris

My sister has an '08 TT Roadster in Florida. I drove it from Tampa to Islamorada and back last year. It was a blast to drive. Compliant, comfortable and uber-responsive little beast. She bought it new. It had about 55k miles when I got my hands on it and was still pretty darn tight.

She's had no mechanicals issues but a few quirks with her roof. From your picture that appears to be moot. Otherwise, hers has proven to be bullet proof. I think they are very well done.

Thanks, guys. I was hoping to hear from somebody with "hands on" experience with this model. Much appreciated.

......which is shorthand for "I was going to get it anyway but needed to be validated by TT owners" LOL.
Some points to gather from the "Hands on" anecdotes you've quoted....both owners were women and both had relatively low miles quoted, make of that what you will, you also chose not to cite SW664118640's TT who ate his lunch, further convincing me you had already made up your mind...so good luck with her.
Audi's are excellent cars up until that 30k mark and then they become a object of either passion or stubbornness.

Actually, the final decision was my wife's, she was choosing between the TT and an '09 Volvo C70. I am familiar with the Volvo, but not the Audi, so I figured I'd ask about it. I do appreciate the info on the '02 but the cars changed a lot between '07 and '08 - new body, new engine, etc - so the comparison wasn't apples to apples.

And, yes, she chose the Audi and is very excited about it and can't wait to take it to work today and show the girls. As for me, I'll still be driving my '66 Tbird when the weather is decent and my Wrangler when it isn't.
Thanks again, everyone, for your responses.

Finally you came clean and clarified that the TT was for your wife. As I was reading through everyones posts, I kept saying to myself "doesn't this guy realize TT's are chick cars?" (along with new VW Beetles, Mini's etc). You got your man card back with the Wrangler and T Bird save!

Yeah....I was attempting to gently elude to that fact but as a fair weather run about for a young lady it more than fits the bill....

Huh. I had no idea, in fact, it kind of strikes me like a modern version of the old Porsche 356. Live and learn.

Funny story about living in the country - our boys are 11 and 13 and love the car and think it's the coolest thing ever. Tucker (the 11 y/o) came home from school yesterday complaining that he was bragging on the car and his "friends don't even know what an Audi is. Gabe didn't get it at all, he thought I was talking about a belly button!". Of course, Tucker didn't know what an Audi was before 3 days ago, either.;)
