I have an Aussie victory model in .38-200 I think. It is like new, so I believe it has been reparked. The metal finish is rough like you would expect for a War production piece. The odd thing is the ejector rod is blued and shows wear.

Would this be normal?

Thanks
Tim

I will do my best to help you. A lot of these old guns went through factory overhaul at some point after WW2. Some pictures of the markings would be a great help in determining this. I remember the British factory marking real well but not so good with the Aussie markings. The British marked the weapon with "FTR" followed by a two digit date mark. Look for that mark on the revolver. I'm cannot comment on the ejector rod being blued as correct or not. I hope this helps and enjoy your Victory.

Typically, the ejector rod is blued on Victory and Pre-Victory models.

I agree most Australian Victories have gone through the FTR repair and most were refinished with a more "greenish" type parkerized finish.

Hope this helps.

Steve

Most Aussie Victory Models seen in this country are refinished guns with the FTR stamp and the letter code & date for the particular ordnance arsenal that did the repair. Often the import stamp of Vega, in Sacramento, CA., is also on the frame of the gun. Post some pics of your gun and we will nail it down for you. Ed #15

It has the greenish park, I will try and get picks up this weekend.

Thanks for the help so far.

I've attached a couple of photos of the Australian "FTR" markings. Are these similar to what is on your gun?

Mine has the same marking exactly. Camara needs a new battery so no pics. It also has the importer as Vega ?? in CA

Ditto for me, mine is still in the box Vega shipped them in with a little copy of an aussie manual and a cleaning rod.

Yes mine has the Aussie manual as well. Great pieces of History. Any idea of approximate worth in todays market?

I found an Aussie WWII holster last week at a gun show for $10, unissued and marked 1943. It has what looks like an arrow and H on the back. You might want to search the internet for one to go with your new Victory as they seem fairly easy to find.

I especially love the horrible trigger pull, makes accidential discharges all but impossible. I found some ammo at the last show for mine and am taking it out this spring to see how it shoots.
