Availability of the 3" Model 13 vs the 3" Model 65

I too had been searching for either a 65 or 13 in 3" for over a year. I really wanted a 13, but they seemed to be more scarce than the 65's. Between trying to find a gun at a sane price and getting distracted by other purchases along the way, it took quite a while to get one at a decent price. I went the GB route and after many searches and lost auctions I came home with a very nice 13-3 with box and papers for about $550. They are out there, it might just take a while :)

I was able to get my 13-3 nickel last year on a trade for a kel tec. Beautiful gun to shoot. I don't think it was ever fired when I got it. You sure go through a lot of mothers and JPW after every range day...lol. It came with the original grips but I just found them so uncomfortable to shoot with.

With the old grips ..sorry about the picture..does not do it justice.

I lucked upon a never fired 3" 13 last year. I shot it but knew I could never bring myself to carry it in south ga humidity. I traded it for a 3" 65. Honestly these two are the only two I have ever seen.

Nice model 13.....and you got it at fair price IMO. Thanks for sharing the pic.:)

I have had this one for a few years and it shoots great. The combats were on it, but not sure they're original. I think the seller wishes he never let it get away, but I will be keeping it for awhile, unless he finds a 14-5 for trade back. ;)

I bought (new) a 3" 13 from my GF's Dad's LGS for my her to have a house gun... during the period when the FBI was issuing them. When we broke up, I offered to buy it from her (buying the same gun twice). She declined.
I consoled myself by buying a 3" 66. 3" k frames are just sweet.

My 13-3 three inch purchased this past summer. $300.00 from a gun show guy needing money, getting a divorce. Love these guns; wish I had a 65 equivalent.

I agree that the 3" 65 seems to be more available and easier to find than the 13. I don't know which was produced in greater numbers.

I don't know which is more common and I don't care. I only know that I'm buying a M-65 when I see one that I can afford.

Carry a gun down here in August for awhile, and you'll soon learn to appreciate stainless.

If you're a collector, that's what my college geology prof called a horst of another color. :D (A horst is an uplift in a rock formation.)
