I just received an e-mail from S&W saying my M&P9 was shipped for Monday delivery. I ordered it direct from them in mid October. They told me when I ordered it that they were on back order and it would take awhile.

I didn't know you could order direct from S&W.
Was it some kind of special deal?

I called my local dealer Friday the 13th and told him I wanted a 9c w/o thumb safety. He ordered it that day, got it on Thurs. the 19th and I picked it up today. No problems for me getting my hands on one.

S&W participates in an online training program for S&W dealers. I work the gun counter at a "big box" store, and therefore qualify for the program. I completed the class, and can now order one weapon per year direct from S&W for even less than dealer cost. It is shipped to me at work, using my company FFL. I have to receive it, do a 4473, then log it out to myself.

I can do the same program for Leupold, Blackhawk, Winchester, Walther, and a whole lot more.

How much did you pay at your special rate? is it better than police and military get? ($398 with 3 mags)

I went into my LGS looking for an M&P9 on Jan. 15th. They had to order it, the order was placed on the 16th, I had the gun on the 18th. There's also a LE dealer in Butler, WI (Streicher's) that has pretty much every flavor M&P in stock, and anyone can buy from them...

That's where mine came from. They are usually good about having them in stock, but had to order mine. Must have gotten another shipment. My 9c was $455 with night sights and 3 mags.
