OK those of you that have your Avatar up, how did you do it? I can't seem to down size mine to 80X80 pixels on my computer and can't figure out the correct URL for Photobucket.

You can use microsoft paint to resize by going to Image-Atributes it does not work as well a real picture editing program such as Gimp or Photoshop, then just upload it from your computer.

I had used Photoshop to crop and shrink mine to 60 x 60, or whatever the max size was.

I do not use Photobucket or any of the hosting servers, instead I use an FTP (file transfer protocol) to upload my photos to my personal slice of the internet. Most ISPs allow user accounts something like 5 or 10 megs of space on the host server. That way all I have to remember is my servers .com address and my user name when I bracket the img html code. Your user slice should be addressed something like http://yourisp.com/~yourusername/yourpicturename

You don't need to upload it to photobucket, the forum will store it for you. There is a browse button next to option 2, click it, find the file on your PC and it will upload it to the system. You will then see it in the formerly empty box. I increased the size for avatars to 100x100

I use a nice free photo viewer ad editor call FastStone. Got it at download.com and love it. Very easy to resize and crop. I need easy these days...

Dumb question. Will this site automatically resize the avatar to the correct size if it is stored here?

That is a nice program that I use along side another free program called irfranview, also from download.com. In this case it might be best to store your avatar on the forum, since all of my other pictures are stored on my geocities site, and geocities is being shut down soon. So now I have to move them all over to my other website space. If you store the avatar on the forum itself that is one less file you have to move or remember to save on your web space.
