Awkward

Oh they were probably junk stones.. The one thing that is really good about being married twice(or more)....is when you outlive her. Took me 5 months to realize there really IS a difference 'tween love and lust...Maybe I shoulda married her mother...she kept trying to get her back with me!...thinking of it...the rich mother!

Getting married by a justice of the peace the first time & in the RC church to the same woman later is common back in the day.....

Yup, did that one.
Married 47 years until her passing 5 years ago.

She claimed to have never contemplated getting a divorce.
I asked, "how about just burying my body?" and she just laughed (a little to hard in my opinion) and refused to answer.

My wife's grandmother went through seven husbands. Seems all but the last one (#8) died not too far into their marriage. I always wondered if she had anything to do with that or if it was just a run of bad luck. My wife has a picture of her with husband #8. From that picture, I can't imagine how she ever got any husbands. Must have been many desperate men in her Alabama home town.

Its kind of interesting to look back on history, many men back in the day had a number of wives mainly due to death during childbirth and other maladies. I remember as a kid working on a job site with quite a few older guys there was always no lack of "good advice" running around. I remember one old boy that was quite well off, someone asked him what his secret was. He said "Save your silver." Someone else was going on about divorce and remarriage, the benefits and consequences. His wisdom was pretty hard to argue with, according to him "If you turn them all upside down, they are all sisters." I hope that don't get me in trouble with the trunk monkey, because I thought it was pretty sharp at the time. I've been married to the same gal for forty seven years, we went through a few rough patches but that just makes it worth all the more. Without a little adversity you never get to have your metal tested.
