B and B Rant

Long time ago, do not remember the name. It was located one street behind the main drag right in town about 2 or 3 blocks from the museum. It was in a old converted chuch that still had the steeple on it, the name as I remember had a chuch connotation to it. The owner's wanted to sell it to us
But decided to passdue to age and laziness. While there took a picture of wife sitting in a old claw foot bathtub with only a cowboy hat on. Guess you know picture is for private viewing only. Enjoy your trip.

Bet this is it: Lodging near Yellowstone in Cody WY B&B - Angels' Keep

Feralmerill's post about rooming houses and people letting rooms in the old days reminded me of a booming service nowadays: Airbnb. Check it out at Airbnb.com.

It is a new business where people let out everything from one room in their apartments to entire houses. All over the world. Everywhere. It is hugely successful, so naturally the hotel industry is trying to get the authorities to tax it to death in places like NYC.

There is another service, more downmarket, for the young backpacker set called Couchsurfing.

AirBnB did not exist until something like 2007, and is now valued at ~$7B.

There is another one that I've used. It's been out since 2000 or something. Couchsurfing.com. Same idea. People all over the world post what they have available, from couch to whole houses

Fly to the Emerald Isle and try the B&Bs there in Ireland. Excellent accommodations, friendly proprietors, and either the 'full Irish breakfast' or numerous other alternatives. Been to many B&Bs there and have rarely been disappointed.

Just the concept of a "B&B" turns me off. I don't want to stay at someone else's house. Not even if it's a relative that I really like. Damn sure not a strangers house!

I want to stay at MY house! And as long as I pay for a hotel/motel room that is MY house! If I want to walk around in jockey shorts and drink beer all night watching late, late, late old movies ? Well I will. And only my wife will be offended. (well actually she won't. she's used to it)

Waffles with whipped cream and fruit (blueberries or strawberries) is a great breakfast with good coffee.
The last B&B I stayed at (St. Augustine, Florida) the landlady asked the night before what I would like for breakfast the next mornings

Those "quaint" ol houses that are now B&Bs is the way I grew up only most of them ain't got a two holer out back.
To heck with nostalgia, I'll take a Holiday Inn and a greasy spoon truck stop restaurant, Thank you.

Try the Cotton Palace in Waco to see what a B&B should be. If you don't enjoy it you might want to just stay home and not be a burden to others.

Sounds good. I would love to go there and visit the Texas Ranger Museum, and have a beer with Billy Joe shaver. After all Billy Joe is the wacko from Waco.
