Got my upper back from Belt_Fed today. Couldnt be happier!! Threading looks great, super clean and smooth. All I need now is a crush washer set for indexing the flash cage and suppressor
You might consider a flash hider with slots all around not requiring indexing. I swap muzzle devices regularly and just snug tight on the 1522. Indexing with crush washers is a hassle.
Yeah I would have prefered one that was slotted all the way around, however this was what the shop had, and it was cheap. I'll just throw a couple washers on the end and see what happens. It's not too bad to unscrew stuff, just takes forever haha.
brett did an awesome job with the threading. Im SUPER pleased with the result.
I just got my upper back from Belt Fed too, got it back on Monday and he did a great job threading the barrel. I sent it to him all the way across the country because he does such a good job and knows all about the crowning issues and how much of the barrel has to be threaded. I am glad I sent it to him instead of trying to find someone local to try to do it. Belt Fed does awesome work and I would very highly recommend him for any type of machining work.
I should have sent him my A2 flash hider with the crush washer because it is not easy to tighten down the A2 with the crush washer and he did offer to do it, now I am kicking myself in the rear for not sending the flash hider and crush washer along with my upper to Belt fed.
Oh very nice. I was just trying to find out if anyone local could thread my 15-22 barrel for me, but I might very well just go with the Belt_Fed option instead to keep the community rolling.
I'm going to be pulling the A2 birdcage off my AR build to put on a BattleComp, so I figure the bird cage could pretty up the 15-22 rather than sit idle.
I'll be in touch.
PS Belt_Fed, do you also machine thread-protector pieces that can screw onto the threads if we choose to go bare again in the future?
