Hello all
I’m Scott Pilkington and just joined this wonderful bunch. I’m gonna be helping with the Symposium in my role as Historian for the Firearms Engravers Guild of America. That’s a role I’ve just taken over from my dear friend Roger Bleile as the toll of life has dictated that he step down from.
My strongest connection to this group and my symposium role is the blue picture of my award from S&W for the Most Exquisitely Engraved Handgun back in 1998. I think S&W only participated in this award a couple of years back then. Factory engraver Paul Piquette and national Sales Manager Tom Marx were the deciding committee. The gun that won the award is a King Tut theme and is currently on my business card pictured below and was part of a set that was on the cover of Blade magazine.
I’ve lived a pretty interesting life and some of that is represented in the other pictures. I’ve been involved in Olympic Shooting over 35 years and was gunsmith for the 1996 Atlanta team and the 2000 Sydney team as well as Numerous World Cups and World Championships. Most recently I was team leader for our shooting athletes in Chengdu China at the World Collegiate Games in 2023.
I also developed an air rifle conversion upper to convert your AR-15 into an airgun that was patented and put into production by Crosman.
I also do expert witness testimony in airgun and firearm technology and I say of my business card that if you’ve had an upside down event with a gun and need a lawyer, then your lawyer needs me.
And yes I recieved Master Engraver status from FEGA in 1989 and was the youngest to do so at the time. There are two people that are have beat me in that youngest status but I can proudly say I was instrumental in both of their learning curves.
That enough for now. I look forward to meeting everyone in Missouri and sharing my knowledge of engraving
