hello, everyone...just traded in the last of my bottom-feeders...and purchased a new S&W 686 3" today...

I reload, so I'm really looking forward to not having to pick up brass anymore...I feel like I must've picked up a million pieces of brass the last 5 years or so...

anyway, nothing climatic to add, just wanted to introduce myself to all the fine people on this wonderful site, and look forward to years of shooting my new S&W...

by the way, tomorrow will be the first time i've shot a revolver in probaly 5 years or so...hope i remember how to shoot it:)

Welcome to the club! I did the same thing a few months ago after realizing that I just like revolvers better. You made a great choice with a 3" 686...I've got a 2-1/2" and I love it :)

thanks! I can't wait to shoot it tomorrow...and then I'll post the obigatory pics...after all, the revolvers are prettier to look at:)

Pointy end downrange ;) .

Let us know how you do!

thank you...i don't have 38/357 dies yet, so i purchased some factory ammo... UMC 125 gr. 38 +p and fed gold medal 148 gr. lead wadcutters...any problem shooting a steady diet of the 38+p ammo thru the 686?

Welcome aboard!

I am a old revolver man too. You will love the 686. A three inch barrel is a very good option for carry. I have a 686-2 4 inch. One of these days I might get a 3 inch.

Again, great to have you with us.

thanks! the 3 inch really feels perfectly balanced to me...plus I do plan to use it as a carry piece as soon as i feel comfortable with it...this will be my new range and carry gun...i've been mostly a 1911 guy for the last few years and I kinda got a little burnt out with the semi-auto...

I look forward to getting back to shooting the ole' wheelguns and maybe even dress up like a cowpoke and get into the cowboy shoots...life is good...
