Hello all,

New to the gun world, I initially thought all I wanted was to "shoot 9mm".

I actually discovered the pleasure of precision shooting with 10m air pistol...which I believe is the best school to learn how to shoot.

I recently got my license allowing me to buy firearms. My first purchases include a Pardini in 22 LR for 25 m pistol competition, a Glock 17 gen 5 and ...a new S&W 686 4 inch barrel.

Looking forward learning new things.

Regards from Belgium

Welcome. I met a man from Brussels. He was 6 foot four and full of muscles,,,,

Welcome. Sounds like you got a good selection of handguns to start off with.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Different guns for different goals. The way I see it is that these first purchases are "classics" that are gonna be with me forever. I might add some others in the future (even though I'm fine for quite some time with these), but they are meant to be used and kept.

Cheers

And a....

And a Hound Dawg Howdy to you from SC, USA!:)

I like all of your gun choices (except for the Glock). I got 9mms in many shapes and sizes but no Glocks. I even have some 9mm carbines. Oh, and I do approve of your 686. There was just a poll of what guns you were attached to and I said that the 686 would probably end up with my son before it gets sold.

And air guns are neat, but my wallet isn't too sophisticated. Right now all I have is a Gamo Swarm Maxxim rifle.

I'm lucky enough that my club lends us air pistols (I currently shoot with a Morini CM162 EI). Honestly, I was good from the beginning at 10m air pistol, but I'm still convinced that it helped me to learn how to shoot with real firearms. I had no prior experience with a gun and I'm still able to shoot the 9 or 10 at 25m with all the guns I've been lent so far.

Considering the smaller 2nd hand market in Belgium (compared to the USA) and the fact I wanted peace of mind (not knowing how the previous owner took care of it,...), I decided to go with a new 686. I read all threads about gun locks, etc. but I could never have found a beautiful one in mint condition. First thought about 5 inch version, but the wood grip is bad and read some bad reviews about it, so decided for the classic one, 6 shots 4 inch 686!

Welcome from the St. Louis area.

I am eager to hear what it's like to be a shooter over there.

If people are interested, I can create a specific thread explaining the legal steps that have to be taken before being able to buy a firearm.
