Back with my 27-2 rig

I'm considering trading my nickel 27-2 3.5"barrel. My concern is how to present it. I have the orginal magnas grips, but I also have a fine set of rosewood combat grips w/s&w madalions, and a fine simply rugged holster.The gun itself is in great condition. But is not a safe queen. Should I trade it all or just the gun w/ magnas grips? I'm wanting to trade for 586 2.5" - hopefully w/s&w combat grips - 1911 - kimber - sig including 220 elite - colt - etc. Is this in line with what I have to trade? If it was mine,I'd swap,or sell,the gun with the original grips. I would then sell the extra grips and holster separately.

That is certainly a nice looking revolver. I would think hard before I traded it off. They are not on every street corner! I have regretted almost every vintage smith I ever traded.

gfleet- Please take your strong hand and raise it with the palm open to face level about 10" from your cheek. Now strike yourself smartly.

Do not under any circumstances sell that revolver. If you do you will come to regret it. If you want another gun then buy it. If money is an issue then save your money, get a second job, whatever it takes. Never sell or trade a gun for another because you will always wind up regretting it especially if what you are selling is a 5" M27 which is maybe the finest revolver ever made.

Reason to trade

I've been on chemo for some time now and have no one to leave the gun to,that would appreciate it. It would be hard to carry this gun for everyday and I know many of you do. But I would rather not. I want to be able to carry any of my guns at any time. So I'm thinking I need to trade. I do realize this is the finest gun I've ever owned. gfleet

Sorry to hear about your illness. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting a top of the line carry gun in trade for your 27-2 without the holster and combat grips included. I'd put the original magnas back on for the trade and sell the accessories separately.
FWIW-I'd put a trade value on the 27-2 Nickel with 3 1/2" barrel at $800. That may be a little on the high side but for trade value that's what I would put on it.
I'm not sure what the holster and combat stocks are worth but ever since you posted a picture of that Simply Rugged holster I've been wanting one like it. It's a really nice looking holster. If you do decide to sell the accessories separately I'd be interested.

If you really must sell the gun then just offer the whole package. Selling pieces separately is too time consuming to be worth the effort.

I've met some very fine people on this forum, and one of them will surely have what you are looking for, and will also provide that fine old revolver a good home.

That is a very fine rig. I (a lefty) also have a 3.5 inch model 27 and have been plugging along assembling holster, every-day grips, etc. I have sold some pistols on consignment and have been told that the holster sealed the deal, so I would offer them together.

So sorry to hear of your condition. I had my best friend pass away just before Christmas and I will have to help in disposing of his collection as his only daughter doesn't care to keep them. I see you are in Germantown, if there is any way that I may be able to help you let me know, I am in Memphis. I would hate to see you have to get rid of such a fine revolver. My first handgun I ever purchased by myself was a 3.5 inch mdl 27 and I have kicked myself for letting it get away.

Sorry to hear of your illness.
It puts us in a different mind set with the clock a bit faster. Not knowing when and how much it was wound up.
Also effecting the entire family. Thank God for my wife.
Loosing 71 pounds myself while undergoing treatments and surgery has made packing iron a different game.
The 1911 and 66 or 19 stay in the safe more now. The J frames are used more. Sometimes two at a time.
My 38 britches are now 34 with no gut to hide the steel and wood.
I am lucky to have a wife and kids who appreciate fine guns and I have gifted many . Some just have name tags on them in the safe. The grand kids will need to get some from their parents.
We all will end up with our Father eventually. So far the call home has not been given to us. So we must have work to do here.
Nice 27 I never shot one, but have my first center fire revolver a 28
