Bad Leroy Brown liked .32s anyone else?

What model is that? What's it weigh? Looks sweet!

That's a cool 16-4

I have a 16-4. Original cylinder was re-chambered to .327 Federal. I have extra cylinders in .32-20 W.C.F. and .32 S&W long.
I also have an M&P from the 20's in .32-20 W.C.F.

The 16-4 was made from 1989 - 1992
with a total run about 9000 units. As they were originially made for .32 H&R, does your conversion stand up to all that extra power? Just asking, because the Mod 16-4 is going for a premium and I would be somewhat reticent in messing with its originality.

That's the Model 632.

Although the Model 632 is still offered in a black coating the shiny SS version was a limited edition no longer available. I added the fiber optic sight and replaced all the springs with Wolf which makes that J frame action almost as sweet as its bigger brother N frame shown. Unfortunately neither the .32H&R nor the larger .327 Federal Magnum really caught on. What's nice about this 632 is its versatility. It will shoot S&W short, S&W long, .32H&R and of course the monster .327 Fed. Mag.. This is a blessing, in that shooting those monster .327 magnums gets rather tiring real fast. Although I like to load the .327 Fed Mag at the minimum end with Clays for less recoil and flame, yet still have that beautiful long skinny cartridge.

I've been accumulating .32s for a while as I ran across them, no special effort to seek them out. They used to be a lot easier to find.

I need to update my picture it doesn't include a 632-2, 2-1/8" 327mag.
It does include a 32 S&W top break, a 32-20, 16-4, a 30 no dash, 2 32 long HEs. Also 1 black 632-1 327 and 2 stainless finish 632-1s with S/Ns CNH3832 and CNH3833.

Those combats on the 16-4
are lovely, do those two stripes appear on both sides?

Had about a dozen various WWII and Euro military .32s. PPs , PPKs , Sauers , Berettas , Ortgies , Mausers , CZs. They all got traded off except for a CZ 27 I actually forgot about.

Also have a Seecamp .32 because it's simply an exquisite piece of machine work.

I had to think hard about converting the cylinder from .32 H&R to .327 Mag, but since I can shoot both in it, I went for it. There is plenty of meat in the .32 cylinder, so you don't have to worry about the gun. My conversion was done by Hamilton Bowen, and I'm sure he would not do the conversion if there was a risk. He also made the two extra cylinders for me.

One other thing. At the time I had the cylinder re-chambered, I also had a 4" 16-4, which was kept original, but alas, I eventually sold it.:(

I felt so strongly about the 327 and its possibilities that Project 616 was born... and BTW, Carl3989 you left out the 32 acp, which also fits. I fear that the 327 FM is a great cartridge that was born out of its time and will die far too young. If it had been released 25 years ago instead of the 32 H&R almost-magnum, if would have been an instant success IMHO, but now everyone seems to be more interested in high capacity combat Tupperware and rifles with a couple of letters to start their name. I'm glad I went on and bought a bunch of brass and bullet moulds, so as long as they make SP primers and fast gun powders, I should be able to shoot this one about forever.

Since the original K's in 32 long are so expensive in shooter grade I made my own. Andy Horvath took my model 17 and gave me back a .32 long with a 5" bbl. I went with the old classic rather then the new 327. I have a 16-4 and don't shoot it much. Here's a couple of pics with some KB Ropers, Larry

I agree with what you said, also I think Federal contributed a lot to the caliber not taking off like it should.
When Ruger released the SP101, the first 327, there was a lot of interest, some guns, but very little ammo. A lot of people had the gun but couldn't get ammo.
I got several boxes when I got mine and shipped some to people in different states (at my cost & actual shipping)

I don't think most of hose would fit in Leroy's shoe. As I recall Leroy didn't fare so well as the lyrics go. Maybe he should have had the .327. In another decade or so and no one will even remember the .327. Oh yeah I had one of those in my Chevy!

I thought he had a ".32 gun in his pocket and a razor in his shoe"

His comp (must have been trained by the classic knife fighters in Thailand) left him looking like a "jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone" --

BobF: You make some good points. Where are they all? Especially the 2" Js. I would love to have a 2" J in .32 Long, but you don't seem to have found one either! I think that 'them as has them, keeps them.' The .32 J snubs are lighter than the steel .38 Js and they feel handier. Great pocket guns, especially for the recoil-sensitive and way ahead of a .25. IMHO. Apparently folks haven't been buying ammo for them (the current panic aside); perhaps that's why the ammo hasn't been there in recent years.

Great collection, guy!

Leroy's competition proved that a good carry knife trumps .32 in a crowded bar.:D:D

"Rule #9 - Always have a knife!" Jethro Leroy Gibbs

I like the larger framed .32s. But it's all currently 32-20...A Model 16 of any sort (including a "616") would be welcomed to this little group:

To mix our musical metaphors, "All it takes is looks and a whole lot of money..." Billy Joel (and I would highly recommend that if someone has the former and can do so, they spend the latter on this project.) :D

Actually, all of this talk of 327s and 32-20s is probably more than Leroy (Brown) would have considered. I'm guessing he had a little Hungarian Femaru that some soldier brought back from WW II! It was probably chrome (not nickel) plated and had imitation Mother of Pearl grips from Franzite. I further think that when he bent over to get the razor out of his shoe was when the other guy got started cutting, and Leroy was never able to catch up! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

Sorry, wasn't a great fan of the song. 327 In his pocket? Well maybe he was wearing cargo pants. I know those cargo pants are a big hit when you want to impress women.

My huge .32 collection, a .327 FM 2 1/8" 632 Pro and a .32 H&RM 3" NEF #73:

I found 52 .32 H&RM cases and will reload them with Hornady 100gr XTP JHP over 3.0gr Titegroup - should make ~900 fps. I've already loaded 65 .327 FM Ni cases with those same XTPs over 4.1gr Titegroup with Magnum SP primers and have 179 brass .327 FM cases with 115gr LRNFP over 3.5gr Titegroup with standard SP primers on hand, too. I've tested the latter and found, finally, a mild and all day shooter load that shows no pressure signs with standard SP primers. I'll have 500 Starline brass .327 FM cases due in sometime today, from Graf's, the only place that still has/had the brass. Starline doesn't know when/if they will make more, so I grabbed these - everyone else was OOS/NBO. Midway had some 115gr LRNFP lead, so I grabbed it. I still have several hundred 115gr bullets left from before, but no 96-98gr bullets for my empty ~1k .32 S&WL cases. Times are tough - gotta grab reloading components - like ammo - when/where you find them. I still have several boxes of Fed 100gr SPJHP .327FM and CCI 115gr GDJHPs left from my 'buy it where you find & can afford it' edict, which ended over a year ago around here when .327 FM, etc, seemingly evaporated.

I think I have an old FN Model 1910 that's a .32 but I never use it for anything, it's actually for sale, but I am pretty sure it's a .32. Other than that I never owned a .32 but I'll tell you this - the gun store part of my local range, as of my last foray in there a couple of weeks ago, had an "old"/NIB S&W 7 shot J-frame for sale and it really got my attention but they're asking more than 700 dollars for it. Outside my price range for such guns and outside my collection specifications. They had a S&W 6 shot J-frame in .38 S&W for sale, too - that one fits my .38 and .357 collection so it's mine.
