I have been conducting research on the Baltimore Police Baby Russian's for quite a few years now. Have a lot of information documented.

However, I'm running into a continual issue regarding the M. Robinson shipment. I strongly suspect that there is an error recording these guns. Since the Model 1 SA Baby Russian serial number range and the Model 2 SA serial number range both begin with serial number 1 and are closely dated. I believe the Model 2 SA in 38 cal has been referenced in error. There are many possibilities as to how this error occurred. Just trying to confirm legit Balto Police guns. Likely generated by the collector asking for information on the wrong model.

Can anyone having a M. Robinson shipped Baby Russian with serial number between 4,000 and 7,000 please PM me so I can gather more information? I honestly believe that these are legitimate Balto Police Baby Russians that have been mis-identified for some reason. I'm sure a collector having one of these examples would be interested in knowing.

Murph, Have you seen the article from the Smith and Wesson Journal printed spring of 1979 by Major Charles W Pate?

Early Article

Yes,
I have a copy. I've also been in close touch with the Baltimore Police Historical Society. They are still researching old documents which is wonderful.
